Re: Free Agent Talk
I would definitely take Patty Mills. People forget our prize free agent was Brad Wanamaker last year, what a disaster that 48 hours of signings were. Brad had no ability to take anyone off the dribble or score. We literally had Paschall playing point center in this weird lineup to get someone who could put pressure on a defense. Once Paschall went down Oubre was getting a shot and then eventually we gave Poole a shot and he had some game. I think it would be a mistake having Poole as the only backup ball handler. Wiseman takes a ton of flack on here but backup playmaker was a bigger issue imo. At least Wisemans minutes were an investment in his development, backup playmaker for like 60 games was not.

Would Kyle Lowry or Mike Conley make sense on the vet min. or MLE? Lowry is 35 years old and probably wants to win as many championships before he hangs it up. And Conley, though on a very good Utah team, has been injury-prone. So, may find it more fun and invigorating being coached by Kerr and play alongside HOFs in Curry, Thompson, and Green?

I think both those guys get better offers than the TP MLE

Re: Free Agent Talk
The dream for me is TJ McConnell.
Lowry or Conley would work, but I'd worry about them being healthy when it mattered most ... also they will get more than the Warriors can offer.
As long as we are dreaming (and I'm not going to suggest Dinwiddie) Derrick Rose is out there.
But really it depends on the draft. Realistically if the Warriors take a playmaker at 7 the free agent playmakers will shy away.

Here's the list of PGs who are Unrestricted Free Agents (Sorted by age on this one):

Meh, isn't a strong offseason of available PGs. Only ones I see we can sign via MLE or really go for are Jeff Teague, Derrick Rose, and Spencer Dinwiddie because they had experience as leading PGs for their respective team at some points in their careers, and their stats in the last few years were respectable. The others just aren't really pure PGs, are injury-prone, inefficient offensively, undersized, still unproven,.. just to list a few inadequacies from the pool of free agents. We just shouldn't sign any PG who showed a bit of promise and just ends up being a dud (e.g., Wanamaker). Honestly, none of them fit the mold of our past backup guards.

I like Patty, TJ and Reggie Jackson from that list but I am not sure you can get them with the TP MLE

Re: Free Agent Talk
Jeff Teague has been washed up, vet min at most
And I believe Derrick goes back to NYK and Spencer signs a larger contract since he just opted out of a ~$11 mil deal
McConnell we'd be lucky to sign for full TPMLE, Ish Smith or Mills could probably take partial.
Honestly might be better off drafting another PG with that list

But, you know damn well Jackson earned himself a huge payday during the PHX series. So, lets make it known we can't offer him more than the MLE.

Re: Free Agent Talk
Dinwiddie turned down $12M option, he's looking for a big payday. Teague didn't look bad the other night, might get him on a minimum.

Agreed. At this point, and though he isn't known to a pure PG, I'd go with Hyland with his strong showing at the NBA Combine scrimmage. He's easily attainable at #7. Just a matter of the top 5 (6?) remain where they are.

Dinwiddie is going to be looking for a big deal.
TJ is going to take some heavy sales job from Curry/Klay/Dray/Kerr/Myers ... who knows send Livingston and Barbosa to wine and dine him. But realistically they can offer him the #2 guard position to start the season and #3 when Klay is back.

This is the issue I've been going on about ... there just are not many "playmakers" out there, and the best one who they have a chance of getting for the TPMLE is McConnell. I honestly think they should go full court press from minute one of free agency. The only exception being if they get one of the top 3 PGs in the draft but seriously what are the odds of THAT happening.

Re: Free Agent Talk
The Diwnwiddie/ Oubre thing might still be on the table. We don’t know. The Nets could use an athletic wing and we could use a playmaker. So don’t discount it completely

it would require a S&T for both players and I don't think that the Nets nor the Warriors want to be hard capped next season.

They don't get as far as the hard cap, they both have team salaries already over the Apron (projected about $140M next season) so neither one can receive a player in a S&T.

that is basically what I was trying to say. they would have to gut their rosters to get under the apron like when the Warriors received dLo. Neither team is going to do that.

Can't do it because it would be bringing in a S&T.
