Simmons career-high is 16ppg I think Cade can beat that scoring average in Year 1

Yes absolutely. But the Cade vs. Green comparisons are going to last for years though. I think Green will have more points per game. But I’m all in on Cade.

This reads like a thread designed to provoke people, given recent events.

Cade can shoot. The end.

I get wanting to compare players, but this comes offf like “will saddiq be a better defender than Blake?”

I'll even go this far and entertain the question forensically.

Let's start first with comparative opportunity to score. Obviously given 5 players on the floor at a time your "average" scoring guy is your #2.5 option relative to scoring opportunities and ability to score. Ben Simmons at 15.2 PPG is certainly in that ballpark in PPG relative to Embiid's 29.9, Tobias Harris' 20.5, and Seth Curry's 12.6. Cade is NOT going to be penciled in as the #2.5 option. If I had to make a bet I'd pencil that in at more like #1.5, with Grant being the other #1.5 and Bey being #3. So Cade is likely going to have more opportunities to score than Simmons. And flip those orders around if you'd like since how each of them plays in any given game will dictate what scoring option they are in that particular game, but I'd struggle to believe Cade won't be closer to a #1 option than he is to #3. And Ben Simmons, given the way the 76ers play, is a CLEAR #3 option according to what I've seen. So Cade likely will be provided more opportunities to score than Simmons.

And then you can move on to how they score. Simmons mostly relies on using his size and ability to take the ball to the hole, something Cade can do as well. Is there something Simmons can do that Cade can't? Not from what I've seen.

So now we move on to things that Cade can do that Simmons can't--hit a jumper and free throws. Done.

Given the opportunities and expectations Cade will have to score, I'd be disappointed if he didn't average more than 16 PPG based on usage and capabilities alone. Unless of course Grant and Bey are killing it and Cade is playing super distributor. If he's 14 PPG/8 APG/7 RPG on 45% from the field and in the ballpark of 40% from 3 as a rookie while making sure Grant and Bey are getting theirs I'll be thrilled. But WILL he be a better scorer than Simmons? There is literally no logical reason I can think of that he won't. Hitting a jump shot and a free throw goes a long way in today's NBA.

Obvious answer....

A better question would be if he can play the point better and/or a be better defender.

Agreed. That is definitely a better question. I'd go with being a better PG as more likely than being a better defender. Being an athletic 6'11" goes a long way on defense.

I don’t think so. I think it’s very easy to score in the league than in college. If sekou scored 30 pts, anyone can. Sorry but that conversation is over with Green vs Cade. Cade wins it all.

8 feet is generous for Simmons these days. How far away was he when he passed up the open dunk?
