Hardly even dribbles the ball through his legs. Consistent through HS/College/International play.

No shake, no deception, purely north-south. Effective at the college level but I wonder how it'll translate against better defenders where you need to generate an advantage to force the defense to react.

Expectations need to be tempered with him IMO. He's simply not going to be a high usage, primary scorer. He's no Wade/Mitchell/Roy - you watch their college highlights and they are doing what they did there what they end up doing in the NBA. Suggs hasn't shown any of that kind of self-creation ability.

If you're expecting him to be Lowry/Haliburton/Holiday/Lonzo/Conley type you'll be good. That's a range of players stylistically, but in terms of how the help teams. Playmaking, defense and secondary scoring.

Honestly, that's a really good outcome for a #4 pick. The last few # 4 picks have been De'andre Hunter, JJJ, Josh Jackson, Dragan Bender, Porzingis, Aaron Gordon, Cody Zeller, Dion Waiter, Tristan Thompson and Wesley Johnson.
How many of these players will have a career as good as Lowry/Holiday/Conley?

This is a fair point.

If Suggs can become Conley/Lowry/Holiday-esque (in terms of output, not necessarily style) then that’s a damn good fourth pick.

I'll never forget how pissed celtics fans were when they took a raw jaylen brown when a majority of big boards had bender and kriss dunn (a lot had marquese chriss too) ranked ahead of him. Stop being so close minded

Lack of a flashy handle doesn’t equate to being incapable of creating

Lowry doesn’t really have a flashy handle but he’s effective getting to his spots and has a good Assist/turnover ratio

That’s really all that I care about. I couldn’t care less if my point guard does or doesn’t have a flashy handle like Ja Morant

Like others have said, it's a top 4 heavy draft and we have pick number 4. So it really depends who drops to us. But most mocks have us taking Suggs so it's understandable for all the Suggs talk.

To be honest, I'd rather Suggs than the prospects we were expecting if we stayed at 7th or dropped to 8th pick. We were talking about Keon Johnson, Moses Moody, Davion Mitchell, Jalen Johnson, etc. So I'm glad we jumped to 4th. Suggs' shooting mechanics look good so it should improve in time. That, along with his playmaking and defense make him a very solid pick at 4. A lot of the lottery picks this year seem to be one-way either offense or defense heavy. But Suggs looks to be one of the best two-way options already.

I'm not using highlights, I'm watching his full games. There's 13 on that channel. I don't think he's similar at all to Roy.

Giddey for sure, you dont waste 2 scouts on a trip to Australia deal with quarantine and stuff for in person visit if they didn't already like what they saw on video.

For me, Mobley and Green are clearly above suggs.

That's why I'd be willing to move up to #2 if you really liked one of those 2. Getting players on this level is rare.

Yes, u do. You cover every player and watch them live at every opportunity at least once.

Giddey has zero defense and a terrible shot.

Highly doubt he was the pick at 7/8. Raps love taller play making guards hence the drafting of Delon and the targeting SGA.

But going with a slow, non defending player at an important position like PG seems unlikely.

I just hope the guy we draft won’t be a complete dud in the half court offence.

So tired of the Raptors literally struggling to score anything in playoff basketball settings :( :banghead:

We would be too if we were sitting at 5 with a low chance at him. Now that we have a great chance at him, we got spoiled and want more lol. All the nitpicking starts with that

I remember the Giddey conversations in the earlier draft threads before the lottery. Feels like so long ago. That is another reason why I'm ecstatic we jumped to 4th and consider Suggs a huge win (if that's who falls to us). Suggs and Giddey both have great playmaking, but Suggs is already way ahead of Giddey in terms of offense, shooting, and ESPECIALLY defense.

I want Suggs. "Upside" be damned I swear alot of us armchair warriors would rather plan trade for 95 percent upside at 5 percent realization. Not saying Mobley and Green is that scenario but guess what, Suggs has a rock solid floor and plenty of upside to be a superstar. You give me MY pick if all 3 of em were available, I'd pick Suggs each and every time.

Body contortion of Derek Rose.
Speed of D'aron Fox
Bulldog mentality of Jason Kidd
With better shooting mechanics then all 3.
That's plenty of upside for me.
This guy was meant to a raptor.

Masai only thinks in terms of championships. In other words - which of these prospects can be on the court in meaningful playoff minutes? This pick will be a two-way player, guaranteed.

I think Suggs is more floor general and scoring when needed player. Brogdan is the two guard who might be called a swing guard. If Suggs is it my guess is Freddie is off ball Twin.
