Is the draft going to be in person this year? Or virtual like last year?

NFL held their draft in person so I expect NBA should too

I've been looking around but no word on that as of yet. Probably will get a clearer picture next week if I had to guess.

I watched a ton of film on Synergy of Bouknight in the last few days. I gotta say that I love Bouknight's defense and project his shot creation to be really good. Lowest outcome for Bouknight to me is 3 and D player and highest outcome is 2nd best player on a championship.
Man you gotta watch his defense since he always seems to be in the right spot and I just love him more than Jalen Green right now.

If at #7, I wouldn't be mad taking him over Moody for offensive potential and at least being average on defense on the pro level.

Should just put Toronto on the cap

I'm lower on Moody because his defensive upside isn't intriguing to me. He's very slow footed getting out to shooters and his instincts on rotations aren't all the way there.

Plenty of athletic wings like Kuminga get drafted every year and don’t turn into stars. It’s a big high risk gamble to take him so early in a position that we don’t have a true need in.

All American, Top NCAA point guards? Don’t think we’ve ever had the opportunity to draft a guy like that.

One thing Barnes has going his way is that he really is a dude who's just a jumpshot away. Those other athletic wings who busted (DW, MKG..etc) were picked solely on their physical profile. Barnes physical profile is almost certainly the best in the draft, but he's also a high IQ guy, wont get outworked on the court and he has a lot of leadership qualities.

DW is more Kuminga than Barnes. Im really high on Barnes' floor and i think him/Suggs/Cade are the least likely to bust. Barnes/Suggs bottom out as strong starters, imo while Cade bottoms out as a low end star

UnbelievablyRAW wrote:Was listening to Chad Fords podcast with Adam Stanco (long history as a scout) and one interesting point he made was that a guys high school tape is more indicative of their potential ceiling than their college tape. In college you don’t get the freedom to play to your strengths and often forced into a specific role, whereas in HS the top prospects are able to show out more and you don’t get to see that again until the NBA.

With that said, watching Suggs in high school you can see he dialed back his scoring to be more of a team guy in Gonzaga. Look how often he’d pull from deep 3 (his shot looks good too) and how often he’d attack the rim and make a variety of finishes. Yes the competition is trash high schoolers but it’s the confidence to take and make those kinds of shots that is encouraging. I guess the point that Adam was making being that their HS dominance is what they could/would look like if they hit their peak in the NBA

As Mark Few mentioned recently, he was surprised Suggs wanted to go to Gonzaga. Team was stacked, highly structured. Suggs is all about winning, never cared about his stats. That definitely has to taken into account.

It's one of my main drawing points on Suggs is he just cares about winning that's all. If that means he has to score 30 or drop 12 dimes or make that critical steal/block he'll do it. It's why I can see him being an All Star guard because of that mentality along with his other skills. Being a dual sport athlete and having to split time between football and basketball means he can have some very good growth on other aspects of his game (i.e. shooting).

Another thing I read on reddit during a game the play by play announcer said that he spoke to Suggs asking him who does he watch tape on in the NBA, who does he try to model his game after. For Suggs it was Westbrook and Lillard. He like Westbrooks ferociousness on the court but loves the pace that Lillard plays with and tries to incorporate that into his game.

Man, if playing in the NBA "frees" up his game again like in that video, he'll be nothing short of a star.

Took the words out of my mouth. Well said. I remember how Gerald Green was compared to Vince Carter when the Celtics drafted him, due to his athletic ability. I am not saying Kuminga is Gerald Green, but frankly it is just my opinion, but I do not consider Kuminga an elite cannot miss prospect. It would be a mistake to draft him over Suggs at 4.

He may turn out to be a very good player in the future. He has potential. For the Raptors to draft Kuminga at 4 is a big gamble they do not need. I understand if we were still drafting 7/8. Not at 4.

Actually, MKG has a similiar draft profile as Barnes IMO.

Elite defender, awesome intangibles, leadership, feel, smart. Can't shoot.

That's why he went 2nd.

Got injured, his defence was never difference making/special and his shooting completely undermined his playmaking skills.

That said, Ben Simmons even without a reliable jumper is an all NBA calibre player

MGK and derrick williams arent good comparisons for barnes. Barnes is more of a PG than he is a traditional wing
