Cap Space and trading up?

Post#1 » by MasterGMer » Fri Jul 9, 2021 8:20 pm

Based on ESPN article on Mosley, it mentioned Magic could have 30M in cap space, how will that happen?

And we also have 17M TPE from Boston.

What are some of the proposed trade up options?

I would trade our 5 to top 4. All of the young pieces I will list as available except RJ, Okeke, Isaac and Cole.

But 30M in cap space? That sounds awesome. But how?

After the rookies are signed, I believe Orlando looks to have 7-8M in cap space this year. Next year the team could easily have 30M, and perhaps that is the concept.

Would Orlando trade #5 for a top-4 and a horrible contract? Yes.

Mo and Okeke are working together in the weight room. It seems like Bamba has a chip on his shoulder before his contract season, hopefully

Both Spurs are getable. Could we get involved with one?

For 5 or 8? Nah. I assume we’d have to part with one, maybe even both for one of those two. I like this draft

Neither of those guys would fetch two top 10 picks. Murray maybe for one of them but not White.

My guess would be that the Spurs want someone that they know won't be available at 12, probably a guard or ball handler if Murray and White are the guys they are dangling. The Spurs have been pretty aggressive in trying to move up to get someone they fall in love with in the past.

I actually really like Murray, he's not a great shooter* but he can play and I wouldn't mind trading for him with the 8th pick, but he just signed an extension, so we would have to send out 15m, so not sure how the trade would need to look

*He's not a bad 3pt shooter percentage wise but he doesn't shoot deep very often

On cap=space, we should not discount how valuable unloading Aminu was in this regard.
