Hmm, seems everyone is a Johnny come lately if they change their opinion a few times. Still, I posted these right when I started looking a prospect videos. Booklights' talent jumped right out at me immediately. People may think he is redundant because we have Poole but I'd argue that having two high level scoring guards that can create their own offense coming off the bench would provide a deadly offensive punch and just what this team needs. Double trouble!
I now want Wagner but I can see the allure of Bouhknight.

I thought I was the one that started the Bouk train, lol. I've beginning to open up to Giddey. I think his shot is slow but he reminds alot of Joe Ingles. I would draft Ingles at 14. Ziaire has grown on me too.

I've actually soured on Giddey a little. Our team needs shooters/scorers.
Plenty of players who can initiate the offense already.

I like Giddey at 14, not at 7.
At 7 im between Bouk and Moody. Wagner ive soured a bit on (for 7) but would still like him at 14.

Both, but especially the pairing.
We all know Warriors struggled to score outside of Steph. We had a top five defensive rating but were 19th on offense. Then we go and get two defenders both of whom can't hit free throws.
I just don't want Mitchell at either pick. Great tenacity but his size puts us behind the eight ball from the get go. Lacob/Myers have stated in the past that they like size at all positions.
Guruba, I guess. you could talk me into at 14 but it would have to be a very convincing argument. Love his defense big time!.. but that's about it.

I have yet to see a big movement of Warrior fans warming up to him.
I didnt see a lot, but I did see him move up and there were people beating the drum on him. But nowhere near the Bouknight stuff, he's mocked to us almost everywhere these days
The truth is, I admit that I am nowhere near as educated on this stuff as most of you guys. I'm just reading and learning about these prospects along the way. But I'm just being fair here. When I first started taking a look at mock drafts, a lot of them had Mitchell at 7.
But like I said, I've seen way more Warrior fans adamant about not wanting to draft the guy. The possibility of a 6ft tall pg whose shooting is questionable is not going over well with the fanbase.
Don’t include me in that list. I like Mitchell a lot.
And so many people are worried about his two attempted free throws per game lol. Yes he needs to improve.
Those same people seem to be the ones harping on Mitchell’s free throws, but poo poo away Bouknights 3 point percentage. That’s was almost 6 attempts per game.
But because he suit well in an empty gym, I’m supposed to value tuat more than the games we saw him play in. And he’s good. Not saying he isn’t.

Re: 2021 Draft Thread
Trust your eyes. Bouknight is the best option here. Out of high school his scouting report was lights out 3pt shooter. Her shot 60% from 3 the first half of his freshman year. He made 20 straight corner 3s at his pro-day. His mechanics are phenomenal. He just didn’t have any space in college, took tons of late in the clock bad 3s while injured because he was UConn’s by only option. This is someone who jumped a 63 inch box and finished 65% at the rim, can finish through contact with either hand and has pretty much the entire arsenal of offensive moves.

FNQ wrote:GSWFan1994 wrote:FNQ wrote:That’s certainly an interesting way to handwave off a 6.5% difference in shooting %. To be sure, it absolutely is a huge difference.
UCONNs offense wasn’t great, nor was Arkansas - especially for Moody, a catch and shoot player who was handling a lot in their weirdly basic Princeton offense.
This argument couldn’t parallel the Klay / Burks discourse any closer.. so many here went all in on Burks - he’s more athletic, more versatile, he’ll shoot better than 29% in the pros because he was his teams offense (seriously - look at Bouk compared to Burks. EERIE stuff. Sophomore, efficiency drop, great defensive tools/little impact)
Here we are 10 years later planting flags for Alec Burks again
It’s weird to see opinions shift so dramatically when not a single game has been played.. so either a workout video changed minds, or people are quite suggestible to whatever mocks tell them
Yeah, thanks for the polite way of telling people that they are dumb. Much appreciated.
Actually, it could be the case that, as the days have passed, each one of us has refined our opinion about certain prospects, no?
Imagine for a second that someone spent time studying certain prospects and realized he had the re-evaluate his linear thinking about them. Might happen, right? Just once in a blue moon.
Plus, Burks is much different to Bouknight. Burks is taller and more of a slasher, and has a better all-around game. Bouknight has advanced shot creation moves and handles, and seems like a better shooter than Burks, technically-wise. Plus what I've written in the posts above.
Suggestible isn't dumb. But you think its a coincidence everyone here's tune is changing on Bouknight ever since he was mocked to the Warriors? Sure, if you want. Happens every year but this year is different!
And I dunno if you were here for it, but those who were know that this exactly parallels Klay and Burks, with all the latecomers switching to the more athletic, higher upside person. I get it - its a lot more fun to do a victory lap if they become a star and making unsexy picks kinda sucks. But there is a pattern here, its pretty easy to see
Sounds kinda like people and the media influencing their opinions on vaxxines huh.....???

Re: 2021 Draft Thread
I'm leaning toward going safe with the first choice, a little more prep-time/upside for the second. I'm still thinking Moody with the 7 (not saying someone dropping might not change that, but I'm still thinking about who I'd change for) and maybe someone like Jaden Springer with the 14. From what I've seen, Springer should be able to play D day one, but has a lot of potential for improvement as well. And Moody should be a reliable shooter pretty quick too, contributing first year, though maybe not so much upside.
So, that's me, three weeks out, ignorant but unashamed.

Not taking advice from Bouknight's cousin or agent's assistant or whatever kind of invested relationship you have with him.

You think they only get it right 20% of the time because theyre bad at their job or because its hard?
A baseball player has a success rate of 3/10 and hes an all star. Drafting is hard and theyre competing against each other to win.
I think its foolish to think they arent all looking for some sort of edge to make their success rate higher and do it better than the next team. More information, better organized, etc.
The arnchair QBs have no idea the pressure these guys operate under but are quick to assume they dont know what theyre doing. These guys dont work 8 hour days and then watch tv / surf the web for the rest of the night. They are on this all day/ night.
Dont know if its arrogance or ignorance or both that leads some of these folks to think they could do better. Either way I find it highly amusing.
I agree the pressure can be immense. If you want to succeed at your job you’re going to be putting in more than 8 hours a day. That’s not something that’s only for sports.
Why do they think they can do better most likely because a lot of people can. There just isn’t a lot of opportunity out there. You really think that the nba employs the 30 best gms out of 8 billion people in the world. That’s statistically improbable.
Probably not. But the ones who are the better NBA GMs? They're already working high level sports management in some fashion. I'd estimate 0.00% of them are on basketball forums and watching YouTube clips. They're busying working their ass off.
Are others capable? Probably? I could probably become a doctor. But alas I didn't go to medical school, and even if I did, I'm not willing to sacrifice the time, money, and work my ass off to become one. So I do what I do. What I don't do is read WebMD and think I know better than my physician... let alone a physician working in the most competitive environments with constant public pressure.
But if you think you, or any of us other clowns could do better, you can continue to think that.
Lmao I’m friends with plenty of doctors and I argue with them about medical things all the time even though I’m not in the medical field. Doctors aren’t as smart as you think they are. They are fallible.
