Re: Offseason Trades and Transaction Ideas Thread
So I'm now hearing some people in the organization are interested in signing Duncan Robinson. Thoughts?

The dream scenario for me would be finding a way to get SGA without giving up RJ and getting a backchannel commitment from LaVine in free agency next summer. That backcourt would be very difficult to deal with because both guys can get theirs and create for their teammates. You add in Randle and RJ and you have 4 guys who are pretty good at hitting open guys who now have great spacing to operate from.

He's like 5'10". My height.
I'm just glad to be taller than Wingo.
That 5'10" is from a time when heights were measured in shoes. Probably 5'8" in today's NBA.

At this point, I'd say he's a stretch 5.
I still think Cleveland would want a pick for Sexton; it would likely cost the Knicks 19 or 21 even with Love.
Love could take Taj's and Noel's spot.
Sexton/Rose
?/IQ
RJ/Vildoza
Randle/Obi
Mitch/Love
Still short a starting SF or SG, depending on what you call RJ. Can't see starting IQ and Sexton together. Nor Vildoza. Nor Rose and Sexton.
I like it. Great value Jokic as back up 5
It's a lot of money for 20 mpg, but it's in the context of getting Sexton for cheap/guaranteeing the Knicks get Sexton instead of some other team - again, hinges on IF Knicks/you think Sexton is the guy at PG for the next 5 years.
Melo posted some interesting stats how Sexton had a pretty historical scoring year and he seems like he's about to take off. Obviously some of that is the NBA drafts guys younger than ever, so there's a lost of "X player before the age of X to do X" stuff. Also, there's a bit of "decent player gets more shots on not so great team" to consider, but again, NBA scouts are looking at more than stats.
Back to Love. I think he'd stretch the floor when he plays 5. Obviously based on quicks/leaping/height, it's giving up something on defense. But that's what Mitch is for. And Love isn't the biggest for a 5, but 4's now are generally 3's anyway; not sure Love could adequately guard today's NBA stretch 4's. I mean, even young Love wouldn't be ideal today, and now he's old Love.
I'm not quite sure what the deal proposed originally was, but sticking Sex-Love on the Knicks for no significant players seems like a great move. And Love's contract is up in 2 years - which is when RJ would get paid and the Knicks probably FA market-attempt year. (Albeit I take thebuzzardman's questions/comments on lack of cap space in 2023 somewhat in account). Love's a great passer too. I can see him running this play with IQ.

Re: Offseason Trades and Transaction Ideas Thread
Duncan could easily demand $16 - $20 a year with the way he shoots the ball (and being a RFA) . How much better of a team are we if we go for a Lonzo / Duncan signing at the expensive of paying both around $16-$20 a year ?
Lonzo / Rose / Luka
Duncan / IQ
RJ / Murphey*
Randle / Topin
Mitch / Noel
Does that move the needle for us at all at the 4-6 range of the playoff seeding ?

I'd much rather sign Lowry for 2-3 years instead of Ball for 5 years.
BTW, I'd love to steal Robinson or Nunn from the Heat. Especially Robinson.

The rumor is Miami will take Kevin Love in a Sexton Trade…. Am I just missing something? When did Sexton become good enough to justify that kind of trade?

Love has seen and played a lot of high quality basketball. You can't take that away. Miami should do it and so should we imo.

He’s 22 years old and just averaged 24 ppg on pretty good efficiency. A team with an established culture like Miami would absolutely mold this kid in to superstar

Leon and FO as well as Thibs had some regret about Bogdonavic, Gallinari, and Heyward going elsewhere and probably not paying the price. NYK would have been different with Bogs or Heyward on the wing.
Makes me wonder whether Duncan Robinson will be viewed differently as they look for outside shooting.
Lowry, Robinson, and Duarate additions help a lot.

Re: Offseason Trades and Transaction Ideas Thread
I'll just leave that tidbit fresh from the athletic regarding Sexton
If there's a way getting him while still being able to keep one of our 1st rounders to draft Springer I'd go for it. Although I'm not really that high on Sexton, there's no denying he'd make our team much better.
