yeah 100% you do that trade. Sound like CLE knows they are in a tough spot with probably selecting a guard and keeping all 3 of garland/sexton/draft pick will be tough.

Thats one of those packages where you see what Sexton has in a winning situation and the value isn't crazy where if it doesn't work out you regret that move.

They were pretty high on Obi pre-draft a lot of reports had them 50-50 on Okoro and Obi.

I think CLE would have to pay a much higher price to get Loves 60 MM over 2 years off there books.

Can Sexton defend?

I didn't think Randle was a great defender and Thibs made him into a pretty decent one. Sexton isn't big but is quick. Put in the right spot I think he should be passable. Tough to judge any cavs on defense since they have been so bad.

He had a better Defensive Rating than Okoro.

Well I obviously haven't seen many Cavs games but from what I've seen he's pretty much a liability on that end and needs to be hidden on the opponents worst offensive player. My only hope is that with a reduced usage he'd probably have here, he'll have more energy to spend on D. Defense is hard to track stat-wise, but according to "RAPTOR" he's one of the 15 worst defenders in the league. And if you look at the other players on the list there may be some truth to the stat.

The difference to Randle is that he (Randle) at least has the tools to be a factor on D. Can't say the same about a 6' combo guard w/o a significantly longer wingspan and/or +instincts on that end.

The length and money on Love's contract at this point would make Sexton a sweetener that gets the total package value slightly positive, in my opinion. I think at that point it's more of a salary dump by CLE than a move made to actively acquire assets.

I probably would pass on taking love because a Sexton/Randle/RJ core for the next two years an then you have to eventually pay Sexton and Randle. That doesn't get you where you need to go.

With Colin Sexton and Randle cap holds the following year combining about 40 MM....you probably could still sign a max player or close to it then go over the cap to sign Sexton and Randle. Noah money is finally off the books to clear another 6 MM so if I'm doing the math

IQ probably would be the only long term pieces on the roster. You could fit another max with that group. That is the only way I would do it.

I don’t know if it’s that big of a steal. That hurts like hell. If people don’t think it’s fair, I’d say it’s not that far off. Won’t say I wouldn’t do it, but the Knicks have to think about these factors:

1) needs to get paid
2) has some bad habits on offense he needs to break
3) needs to work on defense
4) probably got messed up by the Cavs organization
5) is he a point guard?
6) do the Cavs even want him back

Not a complete risk-free trade and I think the Cavs asking price should reflect this.
