Obi's gonna be a solid player but I don't hesitate to move him for a potential star.

It's kind of hard to argue against that trade if you're the Knicks. Again, like I said earlier in this thread, it all comes down to how much are you willing to pay Sexton because you're going to extend him. Do you max Sexton and let him become part of the core or let him play the year to see the fit and potentially flip him net year.

We're not talking about Hardaway masquerading as a number one option with pedestrian number averages.
We're not talking about JR Smith with his no no no yes jumpshots.
We'd be getting a Jamal Crawford type scorer who doesn't have to masquerade as a number one option, but rather someone that can stretch the floor for Randle and Barrett.

Sexton would give us a legitimate scorer and if you're a believer in Thibs being able to get players to play team defense, it shouldn't be a problem on the defensive end. I'm a big believer in young players floundering on toxic environments like we've been for years, the likes of Sacramento, Cleveland, etc.

Tough to see because it's not happening. There's a significant cost here, and Obi and a non-lottery pick ain't it.

yeah he coming from that Julius Randle mentality it seems like. I know he had that underdog mentality for a minute. I remember watching him in high school being one of his doubters.

Not saying Obi is going to be a superstar.

But he put up 13 points per36 on 57% TS% and consistently got better on both ends of the floor throughout the season (having a little breakout in the playoffs)

Obi isn’t Frank or Knox. I’m not against trading him for Sexton, but we shouldn’t use him just as a throw in when he has definitely shown potential.

100% Agree, he has game, just was not allowed to do too much in limited minutes. Had to focus on defense to stay on the floor.
