So, maybe we're getting Mobley?

Seems like the reports today are that Detroit loves Green and the Cavs are looking at trading Sexton for Obi Toppin and a Knicks 1st, so that surely raises the odds of them going with Suggs to play the 2 instead of Mobley to play the 4 next to Allen (assuming they keep him).

I've been hoping we get an offensive centrepiece , but it's possible a Mobley-Siakam-OG-Trent-VanVleet offense could be decent just by having 5 15+ point guys. Last 3 minutes definitely a huge problem, but that's a hell of a frontcourt defensively.

Reading some post earlier Cade/Green seem like locks for 1/2. I think the Cavs just draft Mobley and trade Sexton for a guard that fits with Garland.

70% chance we get Suggs

20% we get Mobley

10% being someone out of the top 4

I just find it super hard to believe Mobley drops all the way to #4

If we’re getting Mobley then trade Siakam for the warriors picks (7 and 14). Mobley will need a couple years of polishing, it’s not like Suggs who can come in and contribute right away.

Our timelines change with drafting a big man over say Green or Suggs. Might as well add additional prospects and get younger until Mobley is ready to be the main guy.

NBA gms scared of taking a big with a top 3 pick? If so, I'll gladly take Mobley. Suggs is still my guy but Mobley's potential is probably the highest in the draft.

If the reports of Detroit wanting Green are true, it looks like Mobley could actually drop to us. Crazy if it happens, but not surprising considering the teams picking ahead of us.

I don’t think Mobley is a guaranteed star, but he certainly fits well with the rest of the roster:

FVV / Flynn
GTJ (or Lowry) / Bembry / 2nd
OG / Stanley / Watson / 2nd
Siakam / Boucher / Yuta
Mobley / Birch / Gillespie

Plus the remainder of the MLE so maybe an Otto Porter.

We’ve collectively talked about so many scenarios but I think if Mobley is the pick, I think you kinda stick with what’s been working for us. The Lowry situation lingers regardless, and I do think there’s going to be some S&T return there if he wants to sign elsewhere, but that above is fairly realistic if not a little bit of a letdown of what could be.

I totally agree with this! Everyone has Barnes and Kuminga as locks there, but both have limitations offensively so I think Bouknight is definitely in play there.

The Cavs aren't passing on Mobley lol they didn't even think they would be lucky enough to get Mobley originally. With Mobley's defensive versatility, athleticism and perimeter potential, he would probably not start right away but eventually start at the 4 and pair well with Allen. Then the Cavs can run Garland/Okoro at the 1/2 (the Cavs GM has recently said he considers both guards as part of their young core).

Unless we package the 4th, maybe Flynn, a future first with maybe a couple future seconds? That might get the pistons intrigued. I would do that for Cade.

I love Suggs, but if we can package 4th, Flynn, a future first and two seconds, I would do that deal for Cade. If the Pistons want more, I politely hang up the phone and draft Suggs at 4. I see some other posters are still talking about Sengun, Barnes and Kuminga at 4.

Those were the guys we were talking about last month when everyone thought we would stay at 7. We actually were lucky to move up to move up to 4, so all those three guys are a tier below. Frankly, I think Kuminga and Barnes are a bit overrated to be considered top 4. Great athletes though, but they have question marks with their shot creation and offensive ability.

Suggs or Mobley should be the guy at 4. The only way I am moving up is if I can get Cade from the Pistons. Not even for Green or Mobley. I have Suggs ranked as the second best prospect in the draft behind Cade. He will make an immediate impact next year. It will take some time for Green or Mobley, since they need to put on weight for the NBA level. Long-term they may be better player than Suggs though.
