Sexton isn't just a volume 24 point scorer. He gets his points fairly efficiently, as opposed to most of our players, including Randle and RJ. Sexton is more efficient than both of them.

I agree that Obi didn't get a shot. Some of it is due to his lack of positional versatility, which is a problem with Randle a lock at the 4. Some of it is due to Thibs's stubborness.

I dont believe he is an inefficient scorer. i just wonder the fit with RJ and Randle. 24 PPG is 24ppg anywhere. That took hard work and dedication. Could only hope he comes in and average less PPG and his assist go up a lot while improving defense.

If Sexton actually fixed his defense or court vision/ball pounding issues, we’d be talking about RJ in the deal, I think.

I don’t see a contradiction. They’re higher on Garland and Cade because they see weaknesses in Sexton. Otherwise, they’d be open to keeping him. The pick and his upcoming FA are both drivers that are accelerating this, I agree.

It’s definitely possible because Sexton doesn’t ge paid until next offseason. His cap hold around the range of Knox. We get rid of Knox AND Obi, we actually save money unless the Cavs attach another contract to the deal. We could still have $40M+

But then the Knicks would probably have to trade 19 AND 21 just to even be in the conversation for Sexton, and I'd like to hope the Knicks can hold onto 19 or 21 and then be able to draft a shooter.

I see your point here, and it's probably true, but seeing weaknesses and being higher on another is not the same thing, right? Can they prefer Garland and also see weaknesses in him? It's probably not important to argue this, but there is a distinction.
