Agreed 100 percent , we should look to get shai. How more can be cost compare to sexton

I was in a semi trolling mood with that post.

I think he could solve some issues for the Knicks. Better get a SG with some height who wants to defend and pass.

I think more than anything the Knicks need a player on the perimeter who can create his own shot and score efficiently off the dribble, whether in isolation or off the pick-and-roll.

We had Rose last year but he can't keep carrying our offense. He'll be 33 in October, and there's no guarantee that he stays.

The Knicks end this past season in the lottery without Derrick Rose.

Uhhhh a lot more? And I like Sexton.. you would definitely have to trade Barrett in a SGA deal

At the very least you’d have to include RJ. We can get Sexton who has similar upside to SGA without giving up RJ

I'm not saying he can't be coached to be a real winning point guard, who involves his team and coached to playing league average defense. But it's a really big bet given what his QO and potential contract will be after next year. If he just keeps putting up counting stats he'll want $25+ regardless of his defense, Me'Angelo Russell type money.

You can make an argument he's had the worst coaching in the league? If they want to dump him for these late 1sts this year I'd be onboard with a rehab project but giving up anything of value for a guy with no value around the league on winning teams is dumb.

He's got to have a few issues, otherwise they wouldn't be trading him. I think that's accurate.

But if Cleveland can draft Suggs, plus pick up either two first rounders this year or a #1 (yes, a little late) and a #1 from last year, maybe they like that idea of helping to accelerate the rebuild while saving some future cap $

Right. They don't want to have to lose him for nothing if it's a minimum $20 million ask at end of next year. They'd rather roll their rebuild forward a year and play this years picks. They just need some role player defenders, which maybe they can bag with those late 1sts.

At least he plays defense like an SGA type.

And to be fair to Jennings he was a pretty solid player before he ruptured his achillies. That was basically the end for him

I would also do this trade. I see no upside past 6th man energy bench big in Obi at his age and stiffness, in fact if he's ever Larry Nance Jr. he'll have exceeded my expectations. Knox is mentally not going to make it here.

He's not a home run, everyone is happy with him, can't miss in any way, kind of player.

If he was, he
a) Probably wouldn't be available
b) Knicks would have to trade a sh*t ton to get him
c) Knicks probably couldn't afford him

I'm sure this is me talking myself into yet another player and some of the negative takes are 100%. Or not. Who knows.

What I do know:
a) Have to have faith in Brock Aller here, in terms of knowing the player
b) Have to have faith in Aller/pro player scouts, in terms of scouting his current and future value
c) Have to know that I'll be trolling people with nedleds coined "Monte Sexton" line every time he takes a ton of shots but the Knicks lose

Sexton’s third year is worst than Bookers rookie year though. His best year is worst than bookers worst year but this is supposed to make a point

What IS Larry Nace Jr making, by the way? Maybe Cleveland trades him to the Knicks too and he can be 2nd year Obi for the season.
They are about the same age, right?

Honestly, the part I like the most is that Dan Gilbert would be the one demanding Obi + a pick for Sexton. If somebody that stupid is behind this deal, I feel optimistic about it. There are only a small handful of owners we could fleece, so fingers crossed Gilbert wants to bring “home” an Ohio slam dunk champ.

Otherwise, you know we’d just waste this year’s pick on somebody Thibs won’t want to play.

Knicks are doing the following:

Trading Knox, Obi, #21 for Sexton
Trading #19 for Lonzo Ball
Drafting that Belgian dude at 32
Flipping pick #58 for future 2nd rounders in 2028,2029
