I love how when you view the tweet, Ben's picture is censored with a sensitive content warning

This guy is a jumpshot away from being a top 3 player in the league. But, watching his body language in these playoffs, this guy doesn't give me the impression that he cares to become that good.

It's a really tough call because his potential is enough to trade Siakam, but you don't know if he'll get there.

If you can get him for FVV you jump on this and run away laughing.

I'd rather not involve the #4 pick.

No, that isn't the point. The point is to take undrafted players, and late first round picks and turn them into all-stars or near all-stars.

Well it looks like we’re getting Simmons, im almost certain he will be a different player under Nurse

Wrong on both counts.

Fricken hilarious how offence is just an afterthought on this team. All we do is load up on defence and then wonder why we can’t score in the playoffs. That Boston series was atrocious.

Uhm no… unless it’s just Lowry and filler like deandre bembry. I don’t want poor mans Lamar Odom on this team

You're acting like developing a jump shot is a small feat. It's like saying "That guy is $950,000 away from becoming a millionaire."

Simmons' offensive game hasnt improved since he joined the league. Maybe the best move is to just move him to the front court.

Anyways I'll be shocked if we did a deal with the 76ers for him. I cant think of a deal that would be mutually beneficial.

Here's his contract:

SEASON PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
2020/21 $30,559,200
2021/22 $33,003,936
2022/23 $35,448,672
2023/24 $37,893,408
2024/25 $40,338,144

All guaranteed! What incentive does he have to fix his game?

If we didn't have Pascal, I'd be a little more flexible with the pick. But there just isn't a fit with Ben and Pascal. I'd rather double down on the youth movement than watch Ben Simmons and Pascal run into a zone defense 40+ times per game.

I wouldn't hold my breath on him improving his jumpshot or FT%. This is the same man who after a defeat says "I am who I am" like he's telling you who he is and expecting more is bound for failure.

Siakam alone is worth more than Simmons

No way we give them a pick and GTJ too

Siakam is worth more than Simmons? Come on, Ali. Take off the homer goggles. Ok, Simmons can't shoot. Great. He does everything else well. He's an elite defender and perennial all-defensive team player, who is also an elite passer and ball handler at his size. Surround him with shooters like the Bucks do with Giannis, and suddenly the script flips.

What exactly is Siakam elite at? Simmons has better stats per 40 and a better FG%.

Not to mention, we are one of the best teams in the league at developing non-shooters. Pascal didn't come here knowing how to shoot the three. OG came in a piss poor free throw shooter. Maybe, Ben is too arrogant and set in his ways to be taught, but that's not a skill issue, that's a makeup issue that we don't have insight into as fans. If he's willing to learn/work, we have the staff in place to help him.

So you’re accounting for us fixing him into his valuation?

Siakam is a proven number 2 and would easily make the Sixers a better playoff team

Also cmon you can’t be serious in saying that Simmons has a better fg%. All he does is layups in dunks. If he wasn’t shooting a better percentage that would be horrendous considering he doesn’t take any jump shots

That’s why I think the only way to do this if it’s involving Siakam. Simmons is 24 so he fits with the timeline of OG and the 4th pick

Siakam and Simmons together is a terrible pairing

That's the point, there was a reasonable deal to be had, but the Raptors asked for the moon and the 76ers ultimately said no. I'm not sure how anyone can fault Morey for saying no to a deal that doesn't guarantee the 76ers anything and severely undercuts not only their future, but their overall asset base.

One guard who doesn't get consistent minutes isn't enough for a 6 time Allstar. It was rightfully rejected and now Philly regrets the decision to lowball knowing they could have been in the Finals

The Sixers would be on the brink of winning a championship had they traded for Lowry. Maxey and Thybulle were liabilities in the limited playing time they got and their FRP is 28th overall. I'm absolutely stunned that Morey didn't pull the trigger.

I'm not exaggerating when I say, the Sixers would be the 2020-21 NBA champions this year had they made that deal.

Morey cost them a ring.

I would probably break something if we included the #4 pick in a trade for Simmons. That’s just totally unacceptable in my eyes.

The Raptors won a championship because they had the second best defense of all time with timely scoring. Tactics is probably to focus on defense and jump when that one offensive player becomes available.

Yes Siakam is worth more than Simmons c'mon man. You state all those beneficial attributes to Simmons like Pascal is wildly inferior in those areas. Pascal is an elite defender in his own right, has developed some great ball handling skills that he can actually utilize to score/create for others. It's not just that Simmons can't shoot, its that he isn't even looking at the basket to attempt to score because he is afraid of getting fouled.

Pascal also has a year less on his deal and can hit FT's, midranges and even the 3ball.

Jump how? In a trade that strips the team of its most valuable assets? Or in free agency, which has never happened? Only way we’re getting top end offensive talent is through the draft.
