the deal itself is a steal. once you pay him though ?
maxing out both randle & sexton the same summer is horrific and dooms the team to mediocrity. i think at that point they both become contracts that nobody really wants and so you either keep them for 4 years or play the trade one bad contract for another game. it's a fate worse than death or sharing a pizza with melo and thinking you'll get more than 1 slice before he eats the rest of the pizza.
Lol @ the pizza, but just imagine us having maxed out both Sexton and Randle.... good Lord
realistically, it's unlikely that any of those guys will be a top 10 player. will one even be a top 15 player ? maybe rj or sex will get there, i don't see it, but maybe. and that's a best case scenario. will that ever be good enough ? no. so you need a trade for a real star still and you'd have to give up the rest of your assets to do that. is a team built around top 10 player, randle & sexton good enough ? maybe if there's another pandemic. otherwise, nope.
Not you, and I'm not totally sold on Sexton either, but what are people hoping will happen here?
In no particular order, here are the players who aren't "good enough" for them:
Sexton
Ball
DeRozan
Fournier
And a bunch of others
While I see "Lowry or Conley for 2 years would be great!" and
"Well, we are going to get LaVine"
"OKC will trade us OKC for a bag of chips"
I mean, it's this constant "player X isn't good enough" or some unrealistic trade for a guy the Knicks don't have a shot at, or a very long shot at.
And Lowry and Conley will get 2 years, and then the Knicks are maxing out Randle & RJ and Mitch might get paid and there won't be any money anyway.
So, what is the get people are looking for?
That Graham might be cheaper?
2 years of Dunn?
Draft 3 guys from 19-32?
