Gotta wonder if he is vaccinated or not. Obviously, you can get COVID either way but the chances drop significantly.

That’s really unfortunate to read. I know there’s a big (and justified) lack of trust in our government by the African American community but I really hoped this would be something everyone could get behind.

Hopefully, he did not choose to put everyone at risk. Not sure I could forgive that, tbh.

At the end of the day it's just a comment.

I'd expect the NBA to have the kind of doctors and specialists at their disposal to inform and assuage some of those fears, but it is alarming and I hope Beal isn't being an idiot.

Note that tweet is from January. If it was something current, I'd be concerned.

Who would he be putting at risk? Everyone involved surely has had the access and opportunity to take the vaccine.

Not kids or the immunocompromised…

And I can understand not taking him to Japan where they haven't had access and the opportunity to vaccinate.

I'm sorry, I hope he recovers but any athlete in a position to win a championship or a gold medal in this case should take all the necessary precautions so something like this doesn't happen, whether unvaccinated or not. There's a good chance he's never getting this opportunity again.

I heard only 20% of the Japanese population has been vaccinated - amazing.

Very disappointing. I would hope he's vaccinated, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is not.

Weather he's been vaccinated or not, you can get covid, carry it and pass it on. He tested positive **** gonna happen. In 1-2 years someone having covids not even gonna be worthy of a news cycle, let alone worthy of them missing time or being removed from a team for a long period of time. I just feel bad that he's being replaced, that sucks. Hopefully team USA gets a big, that's pretty much what the team needs. They have a bunch of wings coming after the finals.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

What kind of a dumb-a$$ post is this, man?

If you're vaccinated you won't get Covid. & you don't have the faintest idea what Covid will mean in a year or so.

If you're a scientist, talk science. If you're an MD, talk medical/health issues. Otherwise, zip it -- & above all do your best not to mislead people.

If you're vaccinated, you can get COVID-19 but it's much rarer. The mRNA vaccines are above 90% efficacy.

And if you do get it, you will be asymptomatic most probably. Like Chris Paul was a couple weeks ago. He was able to pass protocol within a week. If Brad had just gotten his shots, we would have a similar situation here where USA Basketball would have waited for him to test negative.

But yes like 99% of the new infections and hospitalizations and deaths right now are amongst our unvaccinated population.

None of what I said was miss information. That first part was accurate and you can find that information a number of credible ways. The second part was my opinion, one formed by my years in science and the medical field. I'm no Dr, and I can't spell great half the time. But I do have a good base to talk about this kind of stuff and thats why you've almost never seen me comment on it much. It's too charged of a topic and honestly, what I said wasn't anything radical in the slightest. I just have little desire to get into such a touchy subject.

For example I think your initial anger at my post was because when you read it you saw, "vaccines don't work don't get them". Which isn't what I said nor what I meant. I understand what vaccines are, what they do, and therefore their importance. I've gotten it, my simple intent was to say let's not make beal out to be a bad guy who put people in danger by not getting a shot, when he very well could have gotten they shot and still contracted covid and tested positive.
