President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Wow...that's a slap on the wrist for the team.
I hope Larry Michael and all the people who were sexually attacking those women still are prosecuted.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
This was just an investigation by the NFL - not a legal proceeding, and I think it was initiated by Washington. I do wonder what happens with the $10 million - hopefully it doesn't go to the NFL owners and does go to charities. Edit - Schefter says it will go to charities.
Is it fair to assume the fine doesn't count against the cap?

Yep. No cap hit.

Am I being too optimistic to hope that Tanya Snyder running the team is a sign of them selling soon?

Sorry to be a killjoy, but I think it’s just the opposite. The NFL raised their debt limit capacity so that Snyder and Lady Macbeth could buy out all the other partners.
There are no longer minority owners pushing.
This franchise is theirs…. And will be for a long, long time.

Otoh, not having other owners means it should be easier to sell if he chooses to - since Snyder won't have other owners to answer to.

I think again it's the opposite, he makes money off the team. The only people pushing him out were the minority owners. They are gone and he has a cash cow for the rest of forever with no signs of declining value anytime soon. No reason for him to see if teams are gonna keep gaining value.Ruzious wrote:long suffrin' boulez fan wrote:verbal8 wrote:Am I being too optimistic to hope that Tanya Snyder running the team is a sign of them selling soon?

Yep. Plus the dude’s whole life is the team. I cannot imagine a scenario where he sells. He likes money, sure. But likes power more.
I can’t imagine little Danny happy with a gazillion dollars but no WTF.

Yeah and the best chance the league or anyone trying to oust him had was this investigation and it's over. He survived the scandal and let's be honest, he's not gonna be dumb enough to get cought in another one.long suffrin' boulez fan wrote:Yep. Plus the dude’s whole life is the team. Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
How long before the NFL does something about the franchise tag?
It's done nothing but turn into a tool to hold players hostage at this point.
Scherff is getting paid handsomely of course but any chance of some long term financial security is out of the window.

Scherff will have made almost 40m for two seasons.
He'll be fine.

Looks like Haskins was in a domestic dispute with his wife, and she beat him up. He probably was caught cheating.

Well, it is what it is. On the positive side, we have him for this year, and if we lose him next year, we probably shouldn't be paying a fortune for a guard, anyway. And hopefully we get a 3rd round comp pick the year after. Plus we got a year to plan on how to develop his eventual replacement, and no doubt Scherff will be motivated to have a great year. So I don't view this as something to lose any sleep over. It might end up being for the best for all parties.
