How key is mental makeup to superstardom? Look at the guys on our team: FVV, Lowry, Siakam. Or in the past like Derozan. All of these guys came into the league with major question marks but nobody has ever questioned their heart or effort. With a player rated as highly as Suggs to come with the intangibles that he does, there's little doubt to me that they will become everything they're supposed to be and more.

On the intangibles scale (just demeanor and determination) the eye test ranks them as

1. Suggs
2. Green
3. Cade
4. Barnes
5. Mobley
6. Kuminga
7. Davion (he's the only one I'm really familiar with outside of the top 5)

Anyways I know where this conversation is gonna go (nowhere) so I’m just gonna go ahead and say right here that I’m not gonna bother derailing the thread

Fact of the matter is, the FO is working out Kuminga and doing their due diligence (AS THEY SHOULD). means nothing in the grand scheme of things with regards to who we pick

Meanwhile, Suggs may want to fall to No. 4 to avoid the Rockets' lengthy rebuild ahead and the Cleveland Cavaliers backcourt logjam. The ideal scenario for Suggs is going to the Toronto Raptors before they wind up letting Kyle Lowry walk in free agency.

I don't think any of those fall to 46 but you never know

there's a lot more good talent too. Ziare Williams, cam thomas, kispert, Jared Butler, kai Jones, Chrispother, McBride, Isiah Jackson, springer, trey murphy, Todd, Mann, Ayayi, Nix.

That's 34 players, if one of those fall to 46 we good

I've been doing this long enough to know what Gms like. Guys like Kuminga. His situation seems a lot like Jalyn Brown. Was projected in that 6-9 range and went 3.

Let’s not forget this all time thread made by the guy who seemingly knows how to be a GM

Wow, so much losing in those comments. And the thread itself, of course.

Mobley signed with Wasserman. Same agency as Adams.

At least this means we’re finally bringing in the top prospects for workouts now

Well I wouldn’t phrase it as due diligence vs being thorough..

Due diligence imo is a bit dismissive.

As if they already know but might as well just in case and really there's no reason yet to assume that. I mean surely if we had only mild interest at best we could've sent any number of different people to go and watch his workouts....

Instead out of every scout, GM or President in the league, who was sitting dead front and center???

MASAI.

That doesn't seem like just kicking the can around. Given what we've done with much rawer prospects like OG and Pascal...and he's far ahead of what they were coming in despite being several years younger. No reason to think they wouldn't be at minimum very interested to know and see more. I'm certainly not implying he's our pick but I think it's more than just a passing interest.

Wanting a closer look is fair given that the combine. I think Kuminga and Barnes will get looked at by all the teams at the top. For us at 4 we’d be foolish to not at least privately workout the guys mocked a pick or 2 behind us

Also a chance we are doing this to making Cleveland stay at 3 if they want him to create an obstacle in them trading back and letting another team steal Mobley from us at 3

Lol there is no way I am taking Jalen Johnson over Kuminga; no way.

Good question. Now sure about superstardom, but I think mental makeup is half the battle in determining whether a player reaches their potential. Also came away really impressed with Barnes after watching his film session with Schmitz, who like Suggs will most likely reach his potential. Too bad he has no semblance of an offensive game.
