You can’t be **** depending on Khris Middleton to save your ass in the playoffs. Shaq had Penny, Kobe and Wade. Kareem had Magic and Oscar. KG had Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rondo. Giannis has Khris Middleton?

Just looking at the home and road splits shows how perilous it is depending on Middleton to be your go to closer. All due respect to Middleton he’s stepped up, but what happens when you face more capable teams in the playoffs?

Shaq lucked into Penny and then had LA and Miami. KG had Boston. Kareem had LA....and oscar was clearly a company man. Who's going to the bucks?

people always rag on Middleton but tbh he's playing bar for bar with Book this series and imo that's been the difference so far.

Middleton stays underrated.

Devin Booker has one more sub 40% shooting playoff game this season than Khris Middleton and last week there was a thread asking if he was a bonafide superstar. Middleton has been absolutely massive in big moments throughout the postseason. The amount of slander he receives is ridiculous.

We're talking about Middleton. Doesn't matter about Booker. Middleton is shooting 43% this entire playoffs where he has emerged as "Batman." He shot 33% on the road against BKN, around 47% on the road against ATL (decent!) and less than 41% on the road against PHX. That's ludicrously offensive to put him up on any pedestal. He's not reliable unless the Bucks have homecourt. However, he could very well reverse this in the next 3 games (if it goes 7) , and if he does, he deserves FMVP. Just judging on what we've seen so far.

He struggled through one series in Brooklyn. One of four, and you're sitting there projecting it onto the rest of his performances throughout the playoffs. The postseason is hard. Players all over the league are inconsistent throughout. It's not just Middleton, but he's the one that gets it more than anyone else. Dude just dropped 40 in an NBA finals game, something only 25 players in the history of the game have done, and it's ludicrous to put him on a pedestal?

I know Middleton torched Boston before but I actually gained a ton of respect for him in the process. He’s a big time shot maker and he makes a lot of difficult ones too. He’s that variable that is hard to predict but when he’s on, it’s the stuff of nightmares for the opposition.

Khris Middleton at home against Brooklyn 2021 playoffs: 30.7 ppg / 9.7 rpg / 4.7 apg / 54% FG% / 50% 3PT% / +37 +/-

Khris Middleton on the road against Brooklyn 2021 playoffs: 19.5 ppg / 8 rpg / 4 apg / 33% FG% / 27% 3PT% / -35 +/-

Khris Middleton at home against Phoenix 2021 playoffs: 29 ppg / 6.5 rpg / 5 apg / 45% FG% / 40% 3PT% / +18 +/-

Khris Middleton on the road against Phoenix 2021 playoffs: 20 ppg / 6.5 rpg / 6 apg / 40% FG% / 33% 3PT% / -26 +/-

No I will not be impressed with a wildly inconsistent Khris Middleton who plays much much better at home than on the road.

Doesn't change the fact that other people respect his game. Like Giannis he contributes on defense too.

He's a good player but he has some type of mental hurdle that explains why he plays much worse on the road than at home. Like if he was more consistent no matter the setting he was in (whether at home or away) it would help his team to stop going down these 0-2 holes like they did against Brooklyn and Phoenix.

Playoff games don't affect who should've made the all-star team. Nick Van Excel scored 36 and 40 points in back-to-back wins in the 2003 playoffs, but that doesn't mean he should've made the all-star game that year.

Lavine averaged 27, 5, and 5 on 63 TS%, and had a positive defensive RPM for the first year in his career. He clearly deserved to be an all-star this year.

Defensive RPM is possibly the worst metric ever presented to the basketball public. Check out the top 10

The point is Lavine improved his defense this year and wasn't a bad defensive player for the first year in his career, while also being a star on the offensive end.

I don't think there's any good evidence of that though, he's improved but still appeared pretty bad and that's how it played out with him on court. Not that I really have any issue with him being recognised, still a hell of a season from a guy I thought was going to be strictly a 6th man type gunner.

Has Booker even better better than Khris in the playoffs? Devin is getting alot of hype for the points but his advanced numbers are mehhh and Khris is better at everything besides shooting and a way better defender

Getting ahead of myself here but if he becomes the FMVP, will he be the lowest draft pick to win that award?

It's still annoying to me how he didn't make the all-star team this year.

I believe so, at least in recent memory. Tony Parker would be the runner up.

He has been exposed, just for the better. You can technically expose something just to find something better hiding underneath it right?
