At least it seems like they see the light after seeing Ayton on how Wiseman should be used. Can only hope they have him focus on setting screens and rolling and being a finisher, rebound and play defense. No more post ups and shooting whenever the hell he feels like it.

There's nothing wrong with postups but the bare minimum he should be very good at what you listed

Yea nothing wrong with posting up unless you’re horrendous at it like wiseman was and yet was still allowed to do it

Kerr mentioned about streamlining and simplifying Wiseman's game.

Translation - put him on a shorter leash. Set picks and rim run. Shoot spot up 3s only when no defender is within 10 feet. Nothing else until you earn an A on his simplified role.

Honestly that should have been first year strategy.

Kerr said, we thought we’d throw him to the lions and see how he did, sounded fine. But they should have had him doing the Looney things first.

I feel like they already started doing that last year after he came back from his wrist injury. I don't feel like he is that far away from being a positive player.

Kerr's comments also don't make it sound like he knows Wiseman's on his way out FWIW. He may end up being traded, but they're not planning on it.

While I agree, and think they never really wanted him to be traded, coaches talking up players before they are traded is not exactly uncommon.

Yep. It's like the old adage: if it barks like a dog, if it wags his tail like a dog, if it smells like a dog, if it sniffs like a dog... what is it then?

Kerr, Lacob and others have been saying the same thing for a while now. The team has hired new coaches to emphatize development. And so on.

So... it's not a cat. Wiseman's staying for the foreseeable future. As he should.

Not to mention that selling low is not only a bad strategy, it's an admission of a mistake. And whether you think drafting Wiseman at #2 is a mistake or not (I don't, but I'm patient) the management is not likely to want to go that way and send him out unless it's for a superior, Durant-type franchise-changer. And I don't see any of those on offer. Beal, Simmons, or Lillard don't seem to fit that for the W's needs.

So, yeah. He's probably staying. And I'm looking forward to his chance to shut up the doubters.

I was fairly sure they wouldn't throw him out there to start the season ... I was wrong, but it looks like my reasoning was right. I wonder if Chriss was healthy how much the handling of Wiseman would have changed.

Particularly because they openly said they drafted him knowing he was going to take time to develop.

I noticed that - kept thinking "who is the G-league guy that can't shoot?" Hopefully he works the kinks out before RS begins.

Coach Adams says he has been lifting a lot during his rehab.

Wiseman definitely put a lot of weight.

I'm looking forward to see him destroy the haters this coming season!

Coach Adams says he has been lifting a lot during his rehab.

Hopefully that also translates to greater hand/grip strength as well. If he can keep people from ripping the ball out of his hands, that alone could add 1-2 more rebounds for him per game.

I don't criticize much that Kerr or the front office or ownership do, but there was a MASSIVE ignorance of their ignorance when it came to JW's first year. Asking him to do "training camp" on TV and against NBA starters was an insane approach. But in their defense, they'd never had their hands on a high level draft pick before. Kerr wasn't one. Meyers didn't represent a ton of high profile rookies, certainly not big men and Lacob only became a part owner with Boston when they already had Pierce and then traded for a superteam of vets. They landed on Mars when they picked JW. Adding development staff this year is a sea change and will show results.

Great post, Sleepy51.

Kerr, especially, had a poor plan last season for Wiseman's development.

Very excited to see how this new development and analytics oriented staff of assistants can do with Wiseman, Kuminga, and Moody.
