it does make sense for him to suggest Toppin wouldn't mind actually getting to play real minutes instead of 8 minutes a night behind Randle

With all the picks we have why in the hell would we give up Obi? This just doesn't make sense to me. Now personally I would love to have Sexton on this team, he's the guard we've been clamming for for years. But if we bring him in it's to be the 3rd option and not the first and if he doesn't understand that than he gets the Frank treatment. We can also bring in Powell which gives us even more scoring and gives us a stacked starting lineup.

Powell

Randle

Here's the question:

Who are we getting this coming season, Julius Fizdale-Randle or Julius Thibideux-Randle?

Anyone here thinks Randle regresses?

I hope he continues off what he accomplished this year but who knows really. Ngl that playoff showing was very concerning

w/ it looking more likely that the Rockets take Green at 2, wouldn't that make the possibility of a Sexton trade less likely? Mobley would seem like the logical choice at 3 even w/ Allen

b/c as long as Randle is here, Obi's role will be limited. Thibs will continue to play his starters big minutes, and he rarely used both Obi and Randle b/c he wanted to have rim-protection at C

I feel like they’ll still look to move him. Garlands and Sexton really just can’t play together no matter what. Too small of a backcourt to work

If I was another team, I would be all over knick young lottery picks. No one does a better not developing young talent and destorying their value. Most team would be let’s play them 25 mins a game to see what we have or try to develop them in the g league. Not us straight benching

Nope. First, he got owned in the playoffs and snubbed by the Olympics so hopefully that’s some motivation. Second, mans needs to get paid.

He and the Knicks got playoff game planned and didn't have the talent to overcome it. Thibs may have been too stubborn for his own good as well, but I don't feel like having that debate right now.

I'd assume all season long teams knew the key to stopping the Knicks was to stop Randle, so I don't think he coasted and feasted on light regular season competition, so he'll probably face what he faced last year, though maybe more teams might do some of the same wrinkles that worked (I mean, Miami did them in the regular season) and his stats might take a slight hit. Or, the Knicks get someone who can score instead of Elf and Randle's stats dip.

I think 1st year Randle and Fizzle were an awful combination for a variety of reasons. Randle was pressing. The team wasn't that good and lacked spacing and talent. Randle could have been in more elite shape - which he went and corrected. Thibs ran crappy sets that didn't utilize Randle well at all and Fizzle rarely made corrections to the offense, or ones that worked. Then again, talent, so chicken/egg thing here.

I think Randle has realized just how hard a player has to work to be considered among the best in the NBA and has committed to it. At the very least in the context of securing a huge payday.
Thibs & Kenny Payne keep Randle focused in game and in practice.
The Knicks will be some level of more talented next season.
Fizzle is no longer coach

Chances are pretty low Randle regresses.

LOL at people that think Knox has any trade value. I'd rather sign the best available GLeague player than keep Knox. Also Obi and #19 for Sexton is a steal for us. I like Obi as a person but he has shown no signs that he is more than a easily replaceable bench player. Sexton averaged over 24 ppg on solid shooting percentages. He has wrecked havoc on several NBA teams this year. I'm sure the Cavs want RJ but I wouldn't do that even though honestly they are probably similar in value (and that is factoring in RJ's slightly higher potential and Sexton's character issues).

If you look at what randle did pre live audience and post I think he deviates back to his mean.
I think the crowd or lack of was a huge part for his success this year

It also feels like the Pat Riley way to snake us in a deal and steal Sexton from us.

How many times over the years have we felt "Oh, the Heat aren't positioned to make a/that trade" and then they make that trade/some other gigantic trade?

The thing is, Randle's mean is a decent player IF PROPERLY utilized.

Thibs may have his warts, but at least in the regular season, his attention to detail/sets/accountability I think make Randle the better version of himself. That might not be last years Randle, but it could certainly be around Pelicans Randle but with more minutes.
