Honestly right now he's more Ferengi than Klingon

You can't blame yourself this franchise switches from rebuild to foolish playoff faster then musical chairs.KnicksGadfly wrote:After seeing friggin thybulle and Simmons lock up Trae, I really wish we had just taken Mikal. Even Hunter is showing his value this series.

The way he's a SF wing and able to go coast to coast off a rebound, can dribble, shoot, attacks the rim strong etc Learn that backboard and he'll be good to go.

we all suffer from being homers at times but y'all really need to reign it in a bit. it's too much. this been going on forever on here too. we probably thought walter mccarty was gonna be special. and the best thing he did was sing.

I like that he got out in transition, had a good 3 point shot, and I figured the floater (which apparently all Kentucky players have to learn) gave him that middle option. I carried on now Knox hit floaters from all over 15 feet in and that profiled as someone who would be a good scorer down the line.
Alas, now when I think of Knox's career and floater, different images are conjured.Spoiler:

Pippen: 6'8 / 228lbs.
K. Knox: 6'9 / 215 lbs.
I saw similarities in their physical appearance on the wings and once I read an article of how his own dad (former athlete himself) comparing his son to Scottie Pippen? I got completely mind fkd and will never believe another sports parent again (they're all homers for their kids).
I still don't understand kid looked to have all the athleticism and raw talent in the world.
And @ only 21 years old I'm not yet ready to quit on him. Not just yet. He's still a kid and two years younger than Obi Toppin, 1 year younger than Immanuel Quickley, two years younger than Mitchell Robinson and also same age as R.J. Barrett.
I'm not expecting Scottie Pippen anymore but with Burks and Bullock not returning I'd like to see Thibs give this 21 year old kid more of a chance coming off the bench next year because despite limited minutes he showed improvements last year with career highs in FG% (.392%), 3PT% .393%, eFG (.514%), Player Efficiency Rating (9.1), TS% (.537%) etc all career highs.
But on the flip side kids like Frank and Knox are why I'm so fired up about R.J. Barrett because I'm sorry but 20-21 year old kids just aren't supposed to be this good, this fast and this young which is why I'm screaming future NBA All-Star. You wait so long for busts like Frank/Knox to stand out. And they never do. Kids like Oni Toppin @ 23 looks light years behind R.J. Barrett in regards to basketball ability so therefore if I'm going to let players like Knox/Frank/Obi both frustrate me and disappoint me? Well then R.J. Barrett is to be cherished, appreciated and down right celebrated because the day I can't become fired up over a 20-21 year old R.J. Barrett (in comparison to a 21 year old Knox) is the day I'll walk away from basketball and never call myself a "fan" again.
Misery needs company.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was wrong about Knox.

Right now right now he doesn't really have a position. He's kinda like a forward version of Jeremy Tyler. There's talent in there and he'll show spurts but can't seem to put anything together or gain any head of steam. Other comps (using former Knicks as comparisons)? A scaled down version of Anthony Randolph? A beggar man version of Tim Thomas?
He's a smaller, less mobile Tim Thomas... I think that's a good comp.
I like this one the best. Poor man's Tim Thomas. His biggest knock was that he lacked the desire, even though he had all the tools. Athletic, high flyer, good shooter, good size for his position. You put even 80% of an MJ or Kobe mentality and work ethic into Knox, the dude is a star. He seemed totally comfortable riding pine all year. The dude doesn't give a fck and it sucks for us.
