Giants. But that harmonica player needed to stop stepping on everybody's solo. Dude recognize, for one song, you are not the show.

This is one of my favorite performances of SRV. Plays behind his back, a string snaps and he takes another guitar and keeps playing behind his back.

RIP Biz Markie. I went to a lot of Wiz games circa 2002-08 and he was often there, sitting courtside under the basket, and I've often wondered what his connection to DC was.

Butter was a harp player not a guitarist, so I don't see how to compare him w/ Clapton.

Ruzious -- I was on stage with the Who at the Festival de l'Humanite in Paris, Summer of 1972. Going on 50 years ago... hard to believe.
One of the people in my apartment was a friend of Country Joe McDonald, who was also on the bill & was staying with us. That's how we got on stage.
I'm guessing that Country Joe may be too psychedelically long ago & out of date for anyone here, but... here you go:
(No I was not at Woodstock....)

What's that spell? What's that spell? What's that spell?
(not at Woodstock either, I was 12 yo in 1969)
But I got the album.

Talking about their singing, lol. Their singing voice and style is similar.

That's interesting -- something I hadn't thought of. I'll go take a listen.

This isn't the only cover of Leo Kottke's Vaseline Machine Gun I've seen but imho this is the only one that comes close to doing it any justice:

I'm learning to play this on the banjo now. Once I figure it out I'll post it - am going to Ohio next week, may do it then.

Here's a video of me practicing that I posted to facebook for my moms. I think the first five minutes or so is me tuning though.

Gotta love Leo - I haven't seen him in many years, but he was terrific in concert - one of the best guitarists I've heard.

If you can believe it, he was even better before he got crippling arthritis

Re: Resurrected unified MUSIC thread.
I regret not seeing Leo Kotke (yet). He's definitely an iconic guitar player.
This guy (Doyle Dykes) has a little Leo in him and some Chet Atkins too.
Watch this at least past the 2 minute point where he accelerates the pace.
Last night I went to Jammin Java and saw Darrell Scott who played a solo show.
Straight up this guy is the best one person act I think I've ever seen especially
when it comes to his ability to sing and play all at once which is a considerably
under appreciated skill. He's also been a very successful songwriter and
made a nice pile of cash that way as his work has been covered by some
very popular artists.
Long story but I've seen him quite a few times and I once heard he played dobro too,
but I never saw him play a dobro at a gig.
So after a show many years ago I asked about playing dobro at gigs and he said
he just didn't like to bother hauling another instrument around on the road.
So the next time I saw him I asked him if I brought my dobro if he would play it
and he said sure. So the last 2 things I saw him at Jammin Java he played my
dobro, last night on two songs. (I have video)
He did this incredibly powerful anti-war song last night. It's a song I've
performed a couple times myself but I struggle to sing it, especially the
last verse without getting choked up.

Re: Resurrected unified MUSIC thread.
& here he is with another you never heard of -- Robert Junior Lockwood.
Robert Junior was taught to play by Robert Johnson when he lived with his Mother. Both he & Johnny Shines traveled with Robert Johnson.
& if you don't know who Robert Johnson was, I feel sorry for you....
