He's been criminally underrated around here since going down, but I truly believe he was about to make the turn towards some form of stardom before going down. The team was playing well and he was playing well.

I still count him among our best prospects and a part of the core currently. If he can come back at the start of the season or near it, I think he will be our best player with potential to be pretty good. This team should be Fultz and Isaac's until someone can step up and take it from them.

Edit: Also want to add that he's not really the best assist guy, but he's still a great passer and an underrated floor general. He knows how to set people up.

I think we see him this coming season, for sure. May not be until Feb, but we'll see him before '22 season.

Orlando can be mediocre again with a healthy Fultz - as is. Orlando can only be great again if Fultz develops a 36% three-ball on 4 attempts a game. (and then there is a long list of also-this and that's).

The ASW ends with the All star game on February 20, 2022. I would think that Fultz will play in the week of 21 Feb. 2022 that follows.

Assuming no rehab set backs.

If that's the case, I have no problem with Cole Anthony and RJ Hampton running the point. RJ needs as many minutes with the ball in his hands as possible this upcoming season. Starting RJ at the two and giving him the back-up minutes at 1 accomplishes that.

Fultz certainly will not be rushed back, but as we sit here, he is still head and shoulders above the other point guards on our roster.

The whole situation is a win/win for the Magic.

It is improbable Orlando makes a playoff push this season, so tanking away the year to gain another asset for the 2022/23 season, where the playoffs should be an obtainable goal, allows the Magic to get Hampton and Anthony in various sets.

There were flashes for sure. Games like the Lakers one (2019?) where he looked maybe the best player on the court don't happen by chance. He would start a lot of games really positively driving to the rim and scoring with ease, but then would take his foot off and - in getting relegated to the corner while Fournier ran PnR sets - he would just fade out of games.

I was really optimistic on Markelle until we heard Clifford raving about how his 3pt shot was back to its college form, only to see him push-shooting bricks again. That was kind of deflating...

But there's still upside to tap with him. So much revolves around him hitting at least 33% on 5 attempts or thereabouts..

That was very deflating. He's still my favorite player on the team but I'm out on him if he comes back with that slow push shot.

The other day due to soreness from a 12 mile hike and long swim, I ended up watching some late 2019 Magic games to get a closer look at Fultz and Isaac. Fultz is really damn good except at long range shooting, he finished around the basket so well and could set people up perfectly. His assist numbers should be so much better, but in the games I watched he was like Plan C or sometimes Plan B. The offense was completely focused around Evan and Vuc. We played with zero pace at all and what a shame that was.

How terrible it was to lose Fultz because it looked like he was starting to become Plan A and was taking more usage. Its probably unlikely that he just continues where he left off unfortunately.

He lost me when after a few aggressive games against Washington ( he always plays his ass off against them) he reverted to being scared to shoot any sort of jumper and his mid range game went to hell. Sorry, but I just don't see it happening for him. His jumper is gone.

Like it or not, Clifford's old-school tough love may not have suited him either...I think there is a real chance that Mosely reveals different sides of some of our young'uns with his patience and supporting vibe. Fultz is obviously damaged goods, but it's possibly, as we've discussed for a couple of years, at least somewhat mental...He's been a great shooter in the past - that's what gives me a lot of hope. He was THE BEST player coming out of college just a few years ago...call me a softy, but a different approach may pay off big.

The few games he was higher on the pecking order and didn't have to defer, he showed flashes of his best self. We all wanted him to not defer to Fournier and when Evan went down with his back, I was excited to see what Fultz would do; then...ACL. He's exceptional at everything except his 3pt shooting. I really feel confident he'll improve there.

That injury sucks and I don't expect him to be comfortable until '22 season.

I think the tough-love was fine with Fultz. Kid is very coachable. What was bad was having him defer to Evan; especially in late-game situations. He can make every pass and get to rim with ease. When he's back, I hope Mosley will let him play free.

He needs a reliable 3 point shot, without it he can't be more than a marginal starter in this league. That's the reality of the current NBA. And what we saw from him in that area was season was anything but encouraging, his form was hideous, and he was bricking everything. Even his midrange was worse last season (small sample, but still...).

Barring a miracle return of his shot, Fultz is not projecting to be a starter. It will be interesting to see him on the floor without Evan and Vučević, only legitimate 3pt shooters he had in starting lineup, but moreso how he fits with our #5 and #8 draft selections.

We have offensively challenged roster and upon his return he may be asked to carry the offense as 1st or 2nd option. It will be a sink or swim environment for him.
