I meant more as a whole. The new coach was supposed to put up a fence around the state, and they are losing guys to Iowa State.

Right...rarely do I have such a bold take, but this is going to be an unmitigated disaster for MN.

The general feel from most casual fans both of WI and MN are, "we need to get the in-state kids!" A bunch of good ones left MN and instead of going for the Reuvers and Davisons of the world, they go for a different caliber of player.

Well Johnson is a green coach that has been an assistant on some mediocre teams. The idea was to "keep the kids at home" as if they think they can keep the Suggs or Jones brothers types.

Instead, they will end up maybe with the Davison or Reuvers tier of players - except their coach will suck and not be able to coach said system most likely. They're probably going to suck even more than they have...but they'll do it with their guys.

Potrykus posted an article about why Tucker is no longer coach...maybe I'll get the JS subscription but for now, I will live in the mystery.

Sounds like the rumor that he asked Barry to be HC were true? Yikes.

Tucker will probably end up on the AAU circuit with Tyler Herro since his NCAA coaching career is officially over as a power duo steering recruits away from UW.

It sounds like he put in a lot of effort to divide and stage his coup during the season as well.

At the very least I would hope for less tumult over the next few years.

Makes me think he corrupted those seniors against Gard, hence the emotional meeting of him “not caring.” Makes me wonder about what he did with Kobe King.

Obviously, we're hearing only one side of this. Of course that's basically all there is, but in theory, UW could be coming with a bunch of "sources" to combat this whole thing...I'm not sure what motivation they'd have and you'd think Barry would act rationally if this wasn't the case.

If somehow Tucker didn't do this, he should speak out now.

Thing is it lines up with everything that was hinted at previously.

Oddest part to me is if he'd have just done a good job for a few years he'd be right in line for a HC job elsewhere and/or to take over for Gard at some point. It's not like Gard is young and he's only doing a so-so job, not like he's entrenched here forever. Like say they continue to just be ok the next few years with these two recruiting classes, no more B1G titles and no tourney runs of note beyond 2nd rd. A transition plan could easily have happened, not "fire Gard!!", but hey you're doing ok but you've had 10-12 years now let's work out a plan for a new guy, younger guy, ex player, etc, It would've been a totally feasible scenario. Plus, of course getting a mid major HC job isn't the worst thing. Chances are he's not F U level of rich from his playing days.

This all assumes Tucker was in any way, shape or form a competent coach. By all accounts, he did not even rise to mediocre. He had a long ways to go and that journey wasn't going to continue on the UW staff.

Micah Potter - 4/6 (1/2 3FG), 1 REB, 2 BLK, 2 TO, 9 PTS) in his summer league debut. The one player I could see maaaaybe having an NBA career, but I still don't see it ever really materializing.
