It’s kinda weird we keep working out prospects in the 7-14 range. Keon kuminga giddey sengun just to name a few. Raps must be looking to acquire another pick

Hoping the Warriors deal happens with Siakam for 7 14 wiseman and Wiggins while keeping our pick. Grab one of Kuminga Keon or Barnes at 7 and Suggs at 4.
Vanvleet/Flynn
Suggs/Trent
Wiggins/Kuminga
OG
Wiseman/Boucher
A lot of great potential here all while maintaining a sembolence of a competitive team.

played all 72 games on the road? basically didn't have the full roster all year.
Then... we decided to punt the season.

Absolutely,
The home crowd thing is one major factor but the resources available by way of training facilities, medical facilities, and the standard creature comfort that MLSE has spent a fair chuck of change on during the Masai era tend to be overlooked.
I think you would be hard-pressed to find a half dozen teams that have invested in their facilities and secondary staff as much as the Raptors did after Masai took over the show.
The Raptors went from the OVO Center to practicing in a converted hotel ballroom.
I am of the mindset that we take a nice step back and see what we have after a few months back home with proper NBA level facilities before we stress too much about the talent.

The Bucks got into all sorts of trouble with 2Bog because of potentially negotiating prior to when it was allowable.
The Pelicans can't negotiate prior to the FA period opening;
If all of a sudden they magically drafted for us at 10 and the deal happened right away we could see ourselves on the wrong side of the NBA disciplinary stick.

I would do that deal all day if allowed.
We address the five, we get a lotto pick, and we maintain our MLE all for Lowry?
Yes Please.

We traded the pick that became Steven Adams for Lowry. Then, many 50 win seasons and a chip later, we trade him for prime Adams + a higher pick. That's some crazy asset value retention/management.

I suspect this season would have gone a little different;
We likely don't sign OG prior to the extension headline so rather than being a 16m hit against the salary cap we maintain his reasonable-ish 5-6m caphold on the books.
I would imagine we likely move Powell for an expiring and a pick rather than GTJ and his 4m caphold.
Right now we would have around 17-18m in cap space assuming you renounce any holds except GTJ and non-rookie options.
If we didn't sign OG (even though it likely costs us way more now) we have around 28m-29m then 33-34m w/o Trents Caphold.
Getting to the 40m likely requires a trade or some creativity and then you sign OG after the fact;
Giannis, OG, FVV, and Siakam and stuff.
thanks

Gah, the slowness of the off-season is killing me.
What makes this one more intriguing than the last couple of seasons is that there are so many questions that need answered:
1. Who gets picked at 4?
2. Who are we targeting in the second round? When’s the last time we had three picks to discuss?
3. What happens with Lowry?
4. Does Siakam get traded?
5. How does our salary cap situation work out? Are we an over the cap team?
6. If we use cap space, could we get a guy like Holmes?
Just a lot of exciting roster changes coming.

Yeah I’ve been thinking this too. I don’t give a flying f*ck about the Bucks/Suns series. Start the off-season already.

This would be the ultimate outcome for us:
Send Boucher and 4th to Cleveland for 3rd to take Mobley
Sign Holmes for 4 years at 76million
Send Lowry S&T and Baynes to Pelicans for Ball Lowry is 2 years at 50 million. Ball is 4 years at 90 million
Resign Gary Trent for 4 years at 72 million.
Raps new line-up and payroll:
Fred (18M) - Flynn (2M) - FA (1M)
Ball (22M)- Trent (16M) - FA (1M)
OG (16M) - Bembry (2M) -
Siakim (30M) - Boucher (5M) - Watanabe (2M)
Holmes (18M) - Mobley (6M) -
Total payroll would be 139M.
Line-up doesn't look incredibly sexy, but the balance of offence, defense and upside is top notch. Add in the deep bench and moveable contracts.

I think we sent Boucher to Clev… how did we get him back to Play back up PF ?
( I know it was just an oversight… I’m just messing with you )

I think the Raps are just covering their bases;
Deals come up on draft night that I would imagine would potentially allow them to trade back, trade up, trade out, or add picks.
This is likely due diligence but will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I’m hoping they do get another lottery pick. It’s not common to have deep drafts like these. Even the 2003 draft was top 5 heavy. It’s a good way to secure talent cheaply

Lotto may prove challenging but I suspect some of the guys we felt would be lotto will be available in the late teens as the draft always works in strange ways from the consensus picks onward.
If there is any reality to Boucher for a pick in the late teens / early 20s I would certainly entertain it

Also just due diligence. There was article from a while back that sometimes team's just want to see prospects knowing that they're not going to draft them. You may just have a couple guys on your radar that you can trade for in the coming year(s).

If the Cavs pull a Cavs and take someone unexpected at 3 and the Raps end up with their choice of two of Suggs, Green, Mobley @ 4 I would consider making this deal because it puts us in the same position we expected to be in when the lotto happened and we get 8 out of the deal.
I would draft different players but the deal is good for the Raps;
Not sure about Orlando though.
Even better. Assuming Barnes goes 3 to Cleveland. Take one of Suggs/Green/Mobley at 5 then Kuminga at 8.

I'm guessing Indiana isn't interested unless they were getting rid of Brogdon/Levert. Even then it may not warrant a high pick from Indy's eyes.
If we draft Suggs and re-sign Lowry, then it becomes more attractive for me. Otherwise, we don't have any good leaders on the team to mentor the young ones with both Fred and Kyle gone.
