I haven't seen enough of Cameron Thomas yet to judge but that's the exact type of response I'm looking for in this thread
Here he is vs. a very good Michigan defense in the tournament. That's one of 16 games this season in which he scored 25+, so a pretty typical day at the office for him. LSU ranked 5th in the country in offensive efficiency according to Kenpom, and that's largely because Thomas was just an unstoppable scorer.
Man, this dude looks like a lottery pick. Only 19, already with an NBA frame/body, looks like a beast on that smooth C&S jumper off the curl, step back 3, blocking dude's jump shots..
This draft class is so deep.
Yup...here's a complete list of major-conference freshmen who averaged 20+ ppg (in order by ppg average):
Trae Young - #5 pick
Michael Beasley - #2 pick
Kevin Durant - #2 pick
Markelle Fultz - #1 pick
Cameron Thomas - ???
R.J. Barrett - #3 pick
Zion Williamson - #1 pick
Carmelo Anthony - #3 pick
Michael Redd - #43 pick
Kris Humphries - #14 pick
Shareef Abdur-Rahim - #3 pick
Marvin Bagley - #2 pick
Eric Gordon - #7 pick
OJ Mayo - #3 pick
Allen Iverson - #1 pick
Sharife Cooper - ???
Deandre Ayton - #1 pick
Cade Cunningham - ???
Jamal Murray - #7 pick
Pretty crazy that in this draft we have 3 players on that list (most drafts had 0 or 1), and 2 of them have a very real chance of falling out of the lottery, which has only happened once before. And that doesn't include Green (18 ppg in G-League) and Sengun (19 ppg in Turkey) who very likely would've averaged 20+ ppg had they gone they NCAA route. Deep draft for sure.
