I can't believe Bobby Portis and Frank Kaminsky are being solid contributors in a NBA Finals game.

This Giannis game is historic. He just seems unstoppable, and in the perfect spot on both ends. Absolute masterpiece. And he's hitting free throws like Steph.

Can't recall the last time I've seen such a big gap between the best and second-best players in a Finals.

Giannis has become the best player in the league since he's realized he's unstoppable in the paint
What a frigging performance

@literally everyone who said Durant's game 5 was on the short-list of the greatest games ever: THIS is what a game that deserves to be on that short list looks like.
He has done absolutely everything in this game, without exaggeration. When you can guard Chris Paul and Devin Booker on the perimeter, defend the rim, and score like Shaq, that's having an impact on the game that few games in history have matched.

You don't have to slander KD to prop up Giannis

I'm going to start this post in a weird way but I want to note this because it hit me watching, but Bobby Portis has been really solid for the Bucks.
Saying that my goodness. I'm not sure I remember a finals game quite this dominant, and that's including Lebron games. Maybe I'm missing one but Giannis is literally everywhere doing everything and I don't recall anything quite like it.

Durants game is on the short list of greatest games ever.
Giannis is on the list with 1 game ever on it.

Kinda sad if that happens, though I guess it depends if you saw this as fundamentally changing your view of Giannis. It doesn't for me, he just maximized playing the way he was already playing, add a friendly whistle and a team ill-equipped to deal with him, and you get an all-timer.

Giannis has been fantastic in this series and otherworldly in this game but don't think he's the best player in the league. Seems like an overreaction.

It always is after a new title.
The issue with per75 numbers;
36pts on 27 fga/9 fta in 36 mins, does this mean he'd keep up the efficiency to get 48pts on 36fga/12fta in 48 mins?
The answer; NO. He's human, not a linearly working machine.
Per75 is efficiency rate, not actual production.

I think Monty, Ty & Nate have been fantastic. I respect Snider, Vogel & Malone and am not saying they should be fired, but I can't say that their coaching IQ is clearly ahead of the first trio, and it's just a fact that former players tend to have an easier time getting buy in.
To be clear, I'm not saying all former players have this upgraded multi-faceted coaching IQ, and I just got done posting about what a horrible mistake it was for the 76ers to hire Doc.
The difference between the sun soffense and the lakers offense is absurd lol
They have sets for every pick and roll coverage and a few adjustments for each
And they’re smart in that they just spam untill you adjust, and if you adjust they’ll just run what they have for that adjustment
I don’t know their playbook all too well but apparently their Spain pick and roll series is crazy too, I think the lakers defended it well though
Meanwhile laker fans be schnutting because we have a play where we set a down screen for AD in the corner that worked once the entire year rippo
There are alotnof ways other coaches just seem incompetent at times, vogel is one of the best if not the best defensive coach outside of some weird crap he does game 1 but offensively it’s honestly so weird how certain things just end up so ridiculously overlooked
I had to track post up countering stuff for the lakers for something and the difference between them and a team like the nuggets is crazy, I think it was something like the nuggets counter post up help correctly 70% of the time while the lakers do it like 15% of the time, and they esp have struggled against baseline help the entire year and adjusted for like 2 games in the suns series and stopped in games 5 and 6, it’s really odd. They just go 5 out so they don’t have to adjust either it’s strange, esp with joe much better the offense ends up being if they do do those things
(Off the top of my head lakers offense with bron and AD when defense didn’t help or they counter correctly had like 1.2-1.3ppp, 0.6-0.7 when they didn’t counter)
I wanted Monty on the lakers in some sort of shape or fashion even though he wasn’t great his time in New Orleans, he has a very KISS style Of coaching doesn’t overcomplicate things and is smart with his philosophy of quick hitting basketball
It’s wild thinking how much coaching act effects teams and how little we can really account for that for past years witth footage not that readily available.
If the bucks ever get a good coach or if budenholzer learns that 5 out or 4 out with a. Dunker spot isn’t the answer to every basketball issue and Giannis has a ATG year it’ll make it interesting to evaluate giannis the basketball player vs giannis performance (not saying his limitations don’t exist obviously though)
I don't like blaming NBA coaches for their teams not running fluid structured offenses. Often that's on the players simply not being willing to run that stuff.
If random guys on youtube can dissect the structure of the Kerr-Warriors offense, than I'm sure that the average NBA coach can coach it.
Bro the lakers literally don’t know how to counter help defense lmfao it’s on the coaches

Yep, before this series started I'd have taken a healthy LeBron, KD, and Leonard, and would have had him neck and neck with Curry and Harden. This series doesn't change that, just solidifies him as an all-time great and without a doubt a top 5 player in the league but the league is loaded.
