I feel like Bobby is already a better defender since joining the team.

It's just a fluke, his on/off was good a few games ago, and it will be again in a few games.

Oh you mean kind of like if you look at Bryn Forbes first handful of games and then the last handful of games you could maybe derive that the few games in the middle that tanked him might not define his entire worth to the team yeah I could see that.

portis's on/off is -4.9, Forbes is -9.3 per 100. I'm guessing Forbes is on the court with Giannis more than Portis is, so that's even worse.

He's provided the exact kind of offensive punch and rebounding off the bench that he was signed to do, and has even exceeded expectations, all for a bargain $3.6 million. We really gonna go through another season where we blame "the supporting cast" and continue to give a pass to our best player(s) when they underwhelm?

I'm happy to be wrong on him so far and hoping he keeps it up. He's got - by far- the best scoring efficiency stats of his career and seems to be making plays defensively that he never did before. Also hitting the boards real well.

Forbes has played 233 minutes with Giannis, Portis has played 218.

What kills Forbes in his Net Rating is he's been a part of garbage time minutes and of the "Bench mob" which got absolutely destroyed. When about 1/4 of his minutes have been shared with Wilson and/or Thanasis that drags him down.

Also, for some reason, when he shares the court with Jrue it is ugly. Why that is? I don't know. Hopefully it works itself out.

assuming that's correct, it's out of 406 and 518 minutes, respectively

imma take up sculpture and make this man a statue. Top 5 all time favourite Bucks and absolutely vital to winning this game. What a **** man.

The defense he played tonight was spectacular. In many ways he’s played like Tim Thomas did back in the day.

Of course now someone will give him a huge contract we can’t match, but that’s ok. He’s our Desmond Howard. Props to Bobby.

But what if...

He plans to opt in?

Giannis was in his ear at the ceremony. And he says he wouldn't trade this situation for the world...

I think he's back.

I'd like to see a 400 ft Bobby Portis statue resembling the one outside Stalingrad or maybe one the ones in Gotham City guarding the entrance to Milwaukee Harbor, like a modern Colossus.

Heh. Just like all the collegiate stars after they win the NCAA title. “I’ll be back next year!”

$40 to $60 million reasons he’s playing for another team in three months. But that’s cool. He did his part.

There's nothing saying the Bucks can't be that team who offers him 40+ million to keep the Bobby effect around. It would take making the decision of him over Lopez going fw. The former would be a reasonable path to chart, given Bobby's comparative age, better rebounding, and defense off picks he provides. You'd lose rim protection, but Giannis could be in there, Bobby on the 4.

As much as the Bucks can be a lure to future ring chasers, I don't think we can assume what Bobby provided us this season can be so easily replaced by one or all bigs that would constitute. I'd be sad to see him go, and not just emotionally driven.

Bobby was amazing tonight, don't think we win game 6 without him. Fantastic signing, even if we only get the one year from him.

The way Bobby got the crowd going was huge. Every team needs a player like that.

They brought him for his scoring and rebounding. The coaches just had to improve him defensively so he can stay on the court which they did.

He gonna get paid now. I'm happy for him.

Bobby was the only player outside giannis that was great on both ends for the entire game. Really loved his interview after, where he admitted to being depressed during the offseason and that his decision to join the team was the best thing he's ever done in his life. Hit me in the feels a little bit.

If Portis agreed to the taxpayer MLE with a player option after one year, what’s the most he gets from the Taxpayer MLE and what could the Bucks pay him after the opt out?

Best contract we can offer is consecutive 1 year deals starting with the taxpayer MLE into resigning with early bird rights into resigning with full bird rights. This is what we could offer offer:
2021/22: $ 5,890,000
2022/23: $ 6,184,500 (PO) -> Opt out into $ 10,822,875
2023/24: contract with full bird rights

If he can get like 15m from a decent team I can't see how he stays. But maybe I'm wrong.
