I have two players at the top of my list at 13 and 17. After them there is four I am on the fence with. By adding Killian, Bey, Okongwu, and Bagley III I don't think I have to draft for position; but can go BPA.

I don't see why he would need to lie. Like you said the top 6 in whatever order you have it seems at least pretty consensus. So he knew who would probably be available. Dont see the reason for misdirection.
