Re: Resurrected unified MUSIC thread.
I'm not a slide guitarist aficionado. A friend of mine who was a pretty good guitarist (just passed away) said that he wasn't a fan of Duane Allman, who was considered one of the greatest rock slide guitarists of all time. I noticed that Derek Trucks (Butch's nephew) gets a lot of acclaim and obviously Bonnie Raitt and Ry Cooder. Outside of those two, who are considered the greatest slide guitarists who are still living.

Some band called "Mookie Blaylcock" with a green as grass lead singer - doing their first gig - in 1990.

Definitely Trucks. I put him in the top five GoAT.
One of my absolute favs is Sonny Landreth. Love this song both for
the slide playing and especially for the message conveyed in the lyrics.
If you include the dobro (lap style) as a slide guitar then Jerry Douglas
has to be included in the conversation. Here he is playing with Tommy Emmanuel,
a guy that has become much more widely appreciated in recent year.
Finally
While there’s no accounting for taste, anyone who doesn’t think
highly of Duane is suspect. If you don’t believe me, consider how
many other great guitar players have total reverence for Allman.
And condolences on your friend, sorry for implying unfavorable
judgements on the deceased.

Emmanuel is an incredible guitarist. Not a huge slide fan, but respect those dudes. I do like the old Allman Bros live stuff. Duane was great and not just the slide, but the solos. Loved Dickie Betts as well. I like he would build up slowly and then crescendo. So many guitarists since the 80s are about speed. Kind of started with Yngvie Malmsteen, who was incredible but it was a damn arms race to see who the fastest was.
Here is an old EVH clip of him playing Crossroads. Shame he didn't do more solo instrumental stuff. Whether you like EC or not as a person, dude was incredible with Cream and John Mayall, but after that, just pretty good. Just played it safe for 40+ years.

EC getting what to me is some well deserved bad press of late with his refusal to play venues
that require folks to be vaccinated. And there was at least one incident going back several decades
that raise questions about his character as a person (a drunken rant).
As a guitarist, he obviously has an impressive body of work. I will disagree strongly
with you though in this regard, his best work was with Derek and the Dominos which
to my ear and also due to playing with Duane, is the GoAT _Rock_ guitar album.
Blind Faith is good too. His post Derek stuff is of uneven quality but at its
best when he's playing the blues like on the album Nothin But the Blues.
The Mayall stuff I think is a little raw and he's still figuring things out.
The Cream stuff is better but that was such a weird scene with the bandmembers
outright hating each other.
Emmanuel is jaw dropping good.

And who better to describe Duane Allman's playing than Dickie Betts:

I meant his middling solo career. I know he was in a hundred bands in the 60s-early 70s. I did like Derek and the Dominoes at least for the one album and yes, Blind Faith with Winwood. But his solo stuff for the most part to me is meh.

He was a good dude who I worked with for about 10 years. He just had oddball likes and dislikes (didn't like Randy Rhodes), but was a very good guitar player. I know Duane was a guitar God, but like I said, I never was huge on the slide. I think some groups overused it as well (Eagles).
I do know he LOVED David Gilmour.

Now that we have Tommy Shepard as general manager and unsealed Junior as coach I feel like the Washington wizards are on the groove line

While that guy is not a drummer I bet he’s something like a raptor pilot. He just looks like he ought to be flying a fighter jet

Re: Resurrected unified MUSIC thread.
I just watched an exceptional documentary about the great Howlin' Wolf:
https://www.amazon.com/Howlin-Wolf-Story-Secret-History/dp/B08W2FNNR1/
A great great musician & just as great a human being. If you like American music of any kind, you owe it to yourself to get to know his music. He was, btw, one of the great slide guitar players ever.
I had the great privilege of hearing Wolf live in Chicago a few times growing up.

Great performance of one of Alice In Chains' lesser known songs. The last minute is especially bad-arsed.
