If CP3 had even one ring I'd say yes. Without one it's hard to put him above Steph.

Congrats OP. This thing got to the 2nd page quickly.

I highly suspect that was the only true motive here.

But feel free to continue to group completely unrelated things together and omit key details to get it to page 3. I'm rooting for you.

cp3 DESPITE his longevity over curry is still not ranked higher. KD vs GIannis is not comparable to this.

I'm used KD as example to show how rings does matter for a player's legacy...

Not all Championships are made equal. Dirk's 1 ring or Giannis ring last night is more impressive than all of Curry 3 rings.

LuffyFiasco wrote:Yup quality of championships should be considered. And those 2 rings are because of...you guessed it...Steph Curry's team.

Curry was not the best player in 2017 &2018. He couldn't even with 2015 Finals MVP.

While he may not have been better than the best player during this period--LeBron James--Curry was the most impactful player (with regards to wins) on the best team in the NBA those two years: GSW.

Is a decade long national champion greater than a three time world champion who also holds world records?

That's kind of like what you're asking. Chris Paul could have won the championship, it still wouldn't have moved the needle significantly.

At this point this comparison is a joke. It should be eye-opening that Chris Paul making the finals actually makes this clearer than if he didn't. Only the Player Comparison board would be so stuck up on longevity to think Paul better.

Both are still playing. How can you give the nod to CP3 for longevity, simply because CP3 is older? SMH

No, because that would be nonsense. Curry was looking as good as ever and playing at an MVP level at age 33.

If OP placed a poll I'd be so fast on page 3 people wouldn't talk about it.

Let me know when CP3 wins a chip as the #1 player while leading the playoffs in VORP, BPM, and Win Shares during an MVP season.

OP should lose their thread starting privileges until they can prove they can open their mouths without needing to have a roll of toilet paper nearby.

Also All-Star and All-NBA's is just as arbitrary as Championships because of the voting/subjectivity involved.

People do take rings into account whenever a legacies is discussed.

Many don't respect KD's 2 rings with GSW. I don't see any different with Curry who also happened to be KD's teammate.

Giannis has more MVPs than KD, but most people thinks KD is clearly above Giannis in all-time ranking.

KD's career MVP share is 3.209 vs Giannis at 2.313. That's why the MVP gap isn't significant. By contrast Curry leads CP3 2.659 vs 2.313. With KD having gotten more votes over his career for MVP than Giannis, it's not as strong an edge for Giannis while here Curry has the edge, just like KD here. That's why it matters.

For those who value how "peaked" a player is they would reasonably rank this group.

KD
Curry
Giannis
CP3

For those with more focus on longevity you might look at WS and VORP.

then you get something like this

CP3
KD
Curry
Giannis

I'd assume most people would want some kind of hybrid and would want to then at the end look at playoffs as these are all greats and you end up with something more along the lines of this.

KD
Curry
CP3
Giannis

You can certainly make your case for CP3 over Curry...but you don't do it ignoring MVP voting.

Curry is comfortably ahead and these Finals I think cemented it for good. His contribution to the Warriors titles is understated. His gravity alone makes it so much easier for everybody else on the team. Remember, Curry has a title without Durant, Durant doesn't have a title without Curry. And CP3 doesn't have a title at all

rings matter

impact matters

longevity doesn't matter unless you accomplish something notable with it and cp3 will never catch stockton

The only realistic way you could rank CP3 > Curry is if you completely disregard the playoffs.

we talking abt steph?

the guy who dragged a bunch of one-dimensional scrubs and a rookie coach to the championship and a 73-9 record?

without steph and gsw dominating the league (prior to kds arrival)...would klay and draymond have turned out the way they did?

would klay have turned out to be closer to a pat connaughton? or to someone like devin booker?

would draymond have turned out to be closer to a bulldog like pj tucker? or maybe a dpoy like ben wallace?

If they both were FAs I don't know who'd rather sign CP3 over Curry. I wouldn't.

CP3 has played a few seasons more than Curry due to age and college so the all star and all nba teams numbers don't mean much to me. I will take Curry any day over CP3.

and considering the ridiculous year he just had, all signs point to him outplaying CP3 in his mid 30s.
