Sounds like Bayno didn’t like that wacko in Indiana either.

I'm surprised nobody's really reacting to this. It's quite an overhaul. Particularly after a season where so many young guys played so well. Why change everything up with their assistants now?

I’m honestly asking, did we lose any assistants?

Because that’s the only way this becomes something, possibly. Otherwise we just added some more coaches to help out. I’m guessing at least one of which has a history with Casey and/or Weaver.

I mean, yeah. You don't just tack on 3 additional veteran coaches to an already full staff.

There's only one assistant being retained. Sean Sweeney.

Thanks. I’m not really concerned about assistants, but if we somehow managed Carlisle as a lead assistant then that would reaction worthy.

Like I realize Kidd is probably moving on, but if I was Vogel with the Lakers when Kidd was hired..I’d have been annoyed.

When I watch the playoffs it seems each team has a dozen guys in the first couple of rows with masks and clipboards.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Now it appears Sweeney is leaving, too.

It'll be a whole new coaching staff. Very strange.

Is Sidney Lowe still around?

Seems strange to extend Casey an extra year but then have wholesale rest-of-coaching staff change.

Pistons seemingly hired another dude - Andrew Jones III from the Sixers, but was with OKC for five years prior.

Meanwhile, Jones took an assistant coach/players development job with the Detroit Pistons.

The Philadelphia native spent the past two seasons as a Sixers players development coach after a five-year stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder organization. He served as the Thunder’s senior performance analysis lead & player development coach during his final three years in Oklahoma City.

Jones was a former standout player at Abington Friends School and Penn State before a short professional stint overseas.

Weaver hiring someone he's obviously familiar with.

What job will he have here? Analyst? Cause didn't we hire some other dude to run the player development side?

We hired Beilein the old UM coach for player evaluation/dev. Seems like the ex-Sixers guy will probably be more of an analyst or support to Beilein then.

Return to Detroit Pistons
