Re: Offseason Trades and Transaction Ideas Thread
It's pretty imperative we re-sign D Rose. His arrival sparked the team and transformed us from a middling team into a winner. At seasons end we were 24-11 when he played, 17-20 without, and probably 90% of us watch every game, so you know that was no fluke. He straight up carried the team for stretches of multiple games.
The good news is he and Thibs have an obvious rapport and chemistry, so you would assume he stays based on him merely preferring to play for Los Knicks. But yeah, this is kind of an underrated, under-talked about need-to-do offseason transaction.

According to the NY post article about our front office, the main reason we got Quickley was because Thibs said we need shooting. Granted, WWW ran with that and badgered the hell out of everyone in the room to get Quickley here, but it seems Thibs is pretty influential in these matters. But that would probably be the case anyway considering how long he, Rose and WWW have known one another and considering each other friends.
I only asked, because while I love what Thibs brought as a coach as far as D and buy-in from players, I don't want to see us become either a st*rf*cker team (lusting after Melo and Stoudemire, etc.) or vet only team. I want to see us grow some players who stay Knicks for the long term. Hopefully IQ and maybe RJ are a departure from the past.
I hope Thibs doesn't idolize this guy:
Ted Stepien bought the Cleveland Cavaliers before the 1980-81 season and sold them in 1983 after heavy financial losses. In between, the team went 66-180, replaced head coaches six times and traded away so many first-round draft picks that the NBA created the “Stepien Rule.”

The Thibs connect will be too strong for him to leave for anything less than a 6-man or starter role on a true contender.
I’d assume Taj is a lock too. That chemistry is too good.

What do you think Rose winds up getting from the Knicks? There is the coach connection. The fact that he'll know he'll play. Will the Knicks try to make him take a 1 year deal? Or is 2 years, 10 million per sound about right?

That does sound right, one or the other. Because of all the one year deals handed out last year, you'd think that's what the aim would be from the FO. His last deal was 2/15

Unless Taj wants to try to ring chase, he should be employed by this franchise for years to come. First as a player and then in some kind of coaching or development role. He has all of the values and professionalism that we should want to promote within the culture of the team.

Anyone else curious about a Thibs/Wiggins reunion would be like? maybe he's got an MIP capable too?

Wiggins and their #14
Sexton
RJ
Wiggins
Randle
Mitch
It's bitter happening though because the Warriors will get a big time player in return.
They may want Randle though.

They might, it actually makes sense as it relates to wanting another star, but it would defeat the purpose of trading for Wiggins. might not be the greatest fit either, since Draymond is the part of the core 3.

I’m sorry but if the Knicks are absorbing Wiggins they have to send the Knicks #7
It’s definitely turning away from chasing Lavine or Beal, but I wouldn’t hate watching this team. I guess idk

I don't think that's unreasonable to consider since yeah, we'd be absorbing that deal, but they'd be looking to get someone of consequence back. maybe a three team trade.

Idk who would be interested in that. For one a lot of teams don’t seem willing to help the warriors. They couldn’t even move Wiggins who isn’t a scrub for the 1st pick last year. They wanted Siakim and the Raptors laughed at them
Teams aren’t sending them anything good. They seem stubborn about the whole thing and I doubt they make any trades.

not buying Bob Myers going after Siakam in exchange for Wiggins and getting laughed at. He's not much better than Wiggins. problem is the raps think Siakam is Michael Jordan.

Re: Offseason Trades and Transaction Ideas Thread
Similar trade idea to what I posted before but with some tweaks
1. Trade Knox, Obi, #19 for Sexton
2. Draft Trey Murphy at #21
3. Draft Vrenz Bleijenberghat at #32
4. Sign Ball at 4 years $87mil total
5. Sign Richaun Holmes at 4 years $69mil total
5. Resign Rose at 3 years $31mil total
6. Resign Bullock at 3 years $31mil total
7. Sign Otto Porter at 1 year (+1 year team option) at $7mil
8. Sign JJ Reddick at 1 year at $5mil (MLE)
9. Resign Gibson at veterans min
PG: Sexton (22) / Rose (32) / Vildoza (25)
SG: Ball (23) / IQ (22)/ Reddick (37)
SF: Barrett (21)/ Bullock (30) / Otto Porter (28)
PF: Randle (26) / Murphy (21) / Vrenz (20)
C: Mitch Robinson (23) / Richard Holmes (26) / Gibson (36)
This team is objectively deeper than last year, (3 of our second stringers would be starters in last years playoffs). Its also actually even younger and has room for growth (among the youngest SL in the league). 10 out of 15 guys are 26 or younger.
In the East, Tier 1: Nets, Bucks Tier 2: Sixers, Knicks, Hawks, Heat. To jump to Tier 1 in the future, we would either need (a) two of these youngins to develop into All-Stars or (b) use some of these youngins as trade bait later on

Wiggins played well on both sides of the ball this year, no way we get their #7 just for taking that contract. But...
I could see:
Beal to GSW.
Wiseman, Poole, #7, #21, Knox, additional GSW picks to Washington
Wiggins and #14 to NY
I actually think Wiggins is a nice fit with Randle, RJ and Mitch, just don't think he is the piece that sends us into contention for a title, so then it depends on what you think you are getting at #14. Personally I would do this trade, but I don't see us as that close. With 14 and 19 you could also probably trade up to 9 or 10 and grab Moody, Mitchel or Giddy.

Where's the Alec Burks Love in all this chatter? This guy was directly responsible for like 6-8 wins. the first three games of the season he was lights out and then during the back half of the year he basically took over the fourth q at least four or five times for crucial wins. we were a fourth seed and would have dropped to missing the playoffs without him. no need to build a fantasy team on paper when you have a dude who can actually deliver. oh and he's a year younger than jrue holiday. culture is not just a word.
