I wouldn't feel confident giving Oubre that same deal over two decades later.

Look at it this way, the Warriors big 3 are pressuring their GM to make a big move for a championship. There is no sense of urgency for them to keep Oubre what does that tell you

I don't know how contracts worked back then, but Guerin didn't go over 24 ppg until his 6th season, when he was 29

Of the 14 times a Knick has scored over 24 per game, 5 were Ewing, and the youngest is a tie between Randle last year and Bob McAdoo in 1978. Technically Melo averaged over 24 ppg in his age 26 season, but that was the year he was traded to us, so it kind of doesn't count

So I'm pretty sure the answer is we've never had a guy score 24 ppg on a rookie contract.

i'm just saying, thinking of him as some kind of savior is probably gonna lead to disappointment. because there's no proof those points help. maybe they will, maybe they won't, but nobody can really say. if there was, or if more teams even thought so, you couldn't get him for obi and a late 1st. we're kind of betting that the knicks brain trust sees something in him that almost nobody else sees.
