2021 FA Thread

Post#1 » by Mik317 » Thu Jul 22, 2021 3:50 am

Been so much focusing on trades that we have neglected FA

Do we bring back Danny (doubt it after his Ben defense lol)? Is Korklord's time here done? Will Dwight be back to collect fouls?

Rumors I've heard were we are kicking the tires on Doug McBuckets and now Reggie Bullock. Both would be nice shooters to add...but with what money?

Still figured there should be a dedicated thread for FA as it is coming up fast.

1.) Pick and roll PG (someone like Alec Burks or Trey Burke but better)

2.) Stretch 5 (someone like Al Horford but dirt cheap)

3.) 3&D forward (in case we trade Ben and Tobi)

I like Cody Zeller a lot as a backup big for next year.

I think somebody might pay guys like Dedmon and Dieng a little more than the minimum. I doubt Zeller has any offers above that. So he'd likely be the cheapest.

Guards who can create please. I realize that's more likely a trade, but it needs to be said here as well.

Kelly Olynyk with the MLE. Floor stretcher who's comfortable in p&R sets. Perfect backup 4 who's capable of providing C depth when needed.

Wiretap show 76ers have interest in Reggie bullock. Is he better than knock knee green?

I had him as target #1 on my list if we trade Ben and Tobi, in one of my posts. Analytics love his defense. But did poor job on Trae IMO.

Almost equal with Green on 3pt green but better defender, he’s second among SFs in DRPM.

Team needs/Wants: basically the same as it’s ever been.

(Mid priced or higher)

Ballhandlers:
- Patty Mills. He’d be hella nice here but before the game just let him chuck on the Aussie jersey underneath, then he becomes discount Dame Dollar lmao.
- Spencer Dinwiddie. Contract might be too big though
- Kyle Lowry. Bring Big Butt home to our chip!

3&D/Stretch 3-4:
- Kelly Olynyk
- Neman Bjelica.... but **** him now lol

Backup Big:
- Robin Lopez/Cody Zeller/Javale Mcgee
- Dewayne Dedmon
- Nerlens Noel?

Bargain basement:
- James Ennis
- Alec Burks
- Maurice Harkless
- Shaq Harrison

First things first though got to take care of the two big contracts (Ben/Harris) quick smart. Whatever Direction do it and do it now.

We aren’t a FA destination (overpay) but there’s plenty of solid experienced options out there. I’m on the other side of the fence with Bullock. Guys like that get overpaid once everybody wants them.

You have to do opposite. Get them cheap. They are not the difference makers moreso complimentary.

Also it’s the exact same thing with youngsters. Bloody get them before the obvious happens and they get good. So much talent out there. Literally wilderness players become elite roleplayers on chip teams (Caruso/FFV etc).

I’m fine with recycling assets for non star talent. Your not losing much either way.

I kind of like Pattycake Mills here lol just tell them it’s a FIBA game.

Outside of that. Backup PG, can start no dramas, play off ball too. Small but man he can get hot. Smart ball player. Vet etc etc.

Hell naw, Danny Green is on another planet than Reggie Bullock defensively. Look at the steal and block rates of Danny Green.

Those RPM numbers are terrible. They literally have three defensive ZERO trash defenders like Joe Harris, Duncan Robinson and Reggie Bullock graded as the best wing defenders in basketball! That's legitimately ridiculous.

I really want to retain Green. His numbers are boring but I think he does a lot for this team on and off the court. A 3-year deal somewhere between $30-40 mil would be awesome.

Depending on what we do with Ben, I also like Nic Batum and Otto Porter (for different reasons).

If the Spurs move on from their vets, Rudy Gay or Patty Mills would be good tax payer MLE adds.

I have no idea where the money comes from for this (though i hope we create some space with a THarris trade:

- Bring back Green

If we trade Harris/Simmons for a guard, then spend the MLE on Doug McBucketts
If we trade him for a non-creator, then spend the MLE on D.Rose (?) or P.Mills

If we think Embiid might miss serious time (I have not heard *any* knee news since playoffs), I'd shoot for using the MLE on a big like Olynyk

I'd really like us to see more Reed in the season. So i'd be fine with bring back Dwight (motivate young guys to be in the gym!) and then run him as the 3rd string C behind Reed.

Tobias for a guard around his level is the move.

Any interest in Cameron Payne? Could we get him w/the TMLE or will he get more?

I think he may get more to stay in Phoenix as the heir apparent to CP3.

Get our old friend Moose back to be our stretch 4/5.

I'm fine w/him and Dwight as the backup bigs if they both come at the vet min.

Probably get more. Dudes coming of a playoff run where they showed out usually get overpaid by a sucker. I don't want us to get used.
