it's just a formula dude, he's still low on the volume numbers so it doesn't accurately reflect his particular case yet. Obviously he's already first ballot.

I wrote them an email 2-3 years ago about their algorithm, and gave 5-6 examples were the percentage was absurd.
I was surprised they answered in less than 24hrs, and we had a nice conversation about that algorithm and the MVP one (which around mid season and later becomes very accurate).
They told me that the HoF algorithm has not been revised in more than 10 years and at one point they need to update it.
This is the basic model of calculation as it is now : https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/hof_prob.html

It’s kind of nice to see that the most obnoxious arguments aged the worst. You win with the Wiggins/Parker skepticism alone.

I was a lurker back then. A little embarrassing for some people but doesn't matter now.

Can we get a separate thread to discuss the upcoming Giannis book? I’m quite fascinated by the stories during the 2013-16 era before he became what he is today and the mind **** Kidd had on the team. Whoever called Kidd a tyrant back in the day was on point, but like someone said the other day on here he was necessary to get where we’re at now on and off the court.

do you really need a book to form an opinion about Kidd? We should be writing the book.

I think that’s what I’m getting at. Reading the excerpt was like taking a trip back to 2014-17 realgm, so the nostalgia of that is getting to me. Shout out to BuckPack and all the other insiders from that era.

I can only speak for myself, but back then (2014-15) I thought Parker was going to be that guy with Giannis being the 2nd tier back-pocket “what if” potential player behind him so I love hearing any and everything from that era.

It’s amazing what Giannis has become and love reading about the steps that put him on track to be where he is today.

I’m around the same age as Giannis so it hits different.

For some reason Jrue, Khris & Giannis wouldn't be able to handle Kyrie & Harden healthy next to KD. Yet those two are swimming above Kyrie on both ends & defensively above Harden. Giannis left everyone in the dust.

Healthy Harden position is waaay to the right from where he is now, that's the bitter truth.
It's not just the scoring but also the playmaking.

And Jrue is definitely not above Kyrie offensively.

The scary part of this graph is how good was KD and half-hamstring Harden defensively, and that agrees to both the eye test and our difficulties scoring against this team. These two are determined to do whatever it takes, and they know very well this includes defense.

To borrow his own language, he's going to have to actually use his skills to play net positive offense. NBA cracking down on those fake fouls next year.

Jrue wasn't far behind for the playoffs.

I just looked it up, we were averaging 120 points in the regular season, the Nets actually kept us to 102. That was the most unpleasant surprise about that team, they can clamp down if they really want to. Didnt think they had it in them.
And even though we won the series they actually outscored us on average with 104.7

Watching these divas in every sport, I am just so appreciative for Giannis.

Early in the season someone asked me if I would trade Giannis for all of the picks OKC has acquired and I said no. First, I knew what happened the last time we traded away a star who wanted to be here (Ray Allen) and second, dude is just one of a kind. Giannis has done everything the right way. Nobody is perfect of course.

I'd say the Bucks beat themselves when it came to that. They just weren't moving the ball right in those losing games. It wasn't just an issue vs Brooklyn.

It might be an interesting exercise to come up with a GA trade where we think we come out ahead. Probably would require a 3-team trade to move the right resources to the Bucks. It's probably highly unlikely, but I wonder if it's possible.

Worth considering that this is total points added not points added per game, so Giannis got his score in 21 games, Jrue and Khris in 23, KD in 12, and harden and Kyrie in about 8.

Now, you can’t simply extrapolate it out due to each series being unique and in theory each series getting harder, but, for an exercise, if you gave KD 21 games he’d have about 130 on O and 35 on D. Kyrie and harden would also be very far to the right.
