Old & New Posters

Post#1 » by Pharaoh » Sat Jul 24, 2021 5:41 am

As someone who has been around these parts for 20 years or so I'm attempting to track down some people.

Mola
No Quarter
Glenn Danzig (among variations)
OUGrizz

Most of the other old school dudes are here but those 4 I particular I remember like it was yesterday.

Anyone know anything about where they might be located online?

Recent posters who vanished: ByeByeDre

Always enjoyed the dialogue despite the difference of opinion so if anyone can get him back that'd be good too.

Things are about to get good for us so trying to embrace it spead the love.

Some of those names are from the split my man. I don't think they are ever coming back.

"The split?" I've been around these parts for a while and this doesn't register with me. I know some folks have come and gone but was there a particular event?

They are all dead to me.

Just kidding. A couple others I distinctly remember are roccdogg (who I met once) and Russian Lightning, who at the time I joined in 2005 was a 17 year old kid.

There was a big crapstorm way back concerning the way some mods from another board conducted business and a bunch of Piston posters got banned, nothing was done as a corrective measure, and a bunch of people left and created their own board.

Back in the day, the Pistons board was top three biggest, with a ton of traffic. It is a shell of its former self. It has never fully recovered.

I can't even remember the name of the other forum now. I jumped and ended up drifting back here.

Hell, you should remember this.

They moved to wtfdetroit - went there to see if it was still active and it's mostly dead now.

I remember it.

I wasn’t a moderator back then, just a minor poster who was far less active at the time.

That other board was active for a number of years. At the time it wasn’t so much a split as it was 90 percent of the community bolting to a board founded by a handful of the most popular posters. They remained active but gradually some of the posters who left trickled back to Realgm.

We were one of the bigger team boards back before the split, though in fairness, size is relative. Realgm as a whole was a lot smaller in those days and many teams didn’t have active fanbases on the site.

All of this, mind you, is ancient history. 15 years is an eternity in internet years, and that’s about when this was.

Yes that is Mola! Thanks bro.

As for WTFDetroit...haven't been there in years!

Memories are glorious though. The Going to Work team and the best fans in the world.

There was a Pistons poster that must have easily made 50-60 posts per day on this board almost 10 years ago when I joined but at some stage dropped off the map. Had a Tayshaun Prince avatar from memory. Anyone remember him?

You’re probably thinking of nastydaddy (Australian guy) who would flood the forum with threads with links to Pistons media articles, as in every linked article had its own thread. After he got told to ease up a bit he got a little sore and bailed.

I’d say 10+ years of forum membership qualifies as being an “old” poster. Old person? No clue. Are you an AARP member?

That's the one. Game threads were 80% his posts also of play by play commentary.

Yeah, he was the first poster to reach the coveted (by some, anyway) 100K posts level and still has the most posts at 121K even though he hasn't posted in years at this point, I think. Although his "first to 100K posts" award has an asterisk due to everyone's knowledge that he was just blasting out posts all day every day with very little actual personal commentary/contribution to any other threads.

New...
I Spent all my time at Mlive and have been wandering the last 4-5 years without a home. Those years where the Pistons were just good enough to slip into the playoffs and lose in the first rd were miserable.

I've been asking for a full rebuild, done the right way, for years. Troy Weaver has been a gift from above. He wants to bring real Detroit basketball back to the NBA. His tank job was masterful. Cade is the future!
