Adebayo went on to help the Heat reach the NBA Finals in 2020 and Popovich acknowledged that perhaps the power forward should have made the team.

so the media is aware that bam is a power forward instead of a center......

Anyone watch Nigeria v Germany?

Looks like twix's boy Nwora went pretty HAM, but not much from the Heat trio.

Okpala with 5pts, 6 boards and 5 steals in 23 mins. Would like to know if he's atleast proving like defense is his calling card. Was 2/2 from the floor and 1/2 from the line. Offensively, he seems pretty inept at this point.

Precious with 9pts, 2 boards, 1stl and 2 blocks in 16 mins. He had 4 fouls so I assume he didn't play much due to foul trouble. Still only went 1/3 from the line smh.

Gabe with 8pts on 3/11 shooting, 3 ast and a stl. Whatever.

Not sure if Iran are huge, or if the US are just that tiny. Really strange roster construction decisions on this US team.

I will say they look better with LaVine out and Book in, but they're still too small. Middleton might be the guy who needs to come in - he's atleast 6'8" and can space the floor.

If I were working these rotations...

Lillard / Holiday
Booker / LaVine
Middleton / Tatum
Durant / Grant
Adebayo / Green

Just depressing seeing Bam out there used liked that, he barley touched the ball the minutes I saw.

I think if you're building a true contender, Bam can't be your second option. He doesn't have it in him, that's just reality. He's too passive and his skillset is too limited.

At best he's a third option after 2 legit scorers.

I love the guy, he's a great person by all accounts but personally I never liked passive players. Rather ride and die with an aggressive guy trying and failing then seeing someone passing up shots.

Maybe our coaches can make him play differently.

Those are natural instincts if he doesn't have them he doesn't have them regardless of coaching.

Well not necessarily.

Sure some players just have "it", but some players can improve in that aspect.

Our coaches got a shy, insecure nobody in Duncan Robinson to put up 11.5 3's per 36, some are crazy difficulty shots.

They did it by drilling in his brain that it's his job, that he has to chuck 3's at every opportunity, that if he's not shooting enough he'll get in trouble with the coaches.

Maybe something similar happens with Bam, combined with skill development.

QF schedule dropped:

Boomers v Argentina
USA v Spain

France v Italy
Slovenia v Germany

Czech Republic missed out on the final spot.

As an Aussie, I’m looking at that SF match-up and winning a little. No Baynes and either facing a Team USA that is in rhythm and has diffused out how to play together, or a Spanish team that just looks like a winner at the moment - and has the Gasols at C.

Meanwhile the France v Slovenia semi is going to be fun to watch!
