A lighter Kat could be a great fit at the four, people are going to want to talk about losing the mismatch of other five's guarding him, but it's also going to create mismatches with smaller fours that can't guard him. A lot of the people that have been rumored or mentioned I would be fine with again with varying costs and varying expectations, but I actually think the idea of cat dropping some weight and toning up to play the four if we can add a guy like Turner next to him makes our team the best.

Losing weight does not make his slow slough feet any faster … that’s why he can’t defend in space

Actually it does aid quite a bit, especially if he is doing a bunch of agility training as well. I see absolutely no benefit to him coming in around 230 - 240 unless he is moving to the four.

If you have slow feet, you have slow feet, you would only marginally improve on this. KAT is a 5.

funny how all those teams have a PF that we could use..if we don't get Simmons, Siakam, Turner, Harrison Barnes, and Nance Jr are good consolation prizes.

we get Gallinari and Onyeka, 20th pick for Beasley, Okogie and Huancho. That'd be a good trade. Onyeka is good defensive young pf. But he is out like 6 months due to injury. Need some medical clearance on that.

Beal needs to ask out already...Beal to Philly, Beasley, Rubio and 2 min 1st and 76er's #28 pick to Washington. Simmons to Min. Make it happen!

This would be a really good price to cash out the Beasley trade and contract.

People focus on Gallo, but he is clearly a negative contract, costing $25.5 mil ($20.5 salary this year, $5 mil buy out next year) for whatever non-injured part of a season he can give you production. Okongwu would be a nice piece to sit on, and I’m sure Rosas would love to use his scouting background to find some hidden talent in the draft.

Is this the kind of move ATL wants? Granted, Beasley is young enough to fit with their core, and his contract is good past this year. However, they just paid for Bogdanovic, and still like Cam Reddish. Huerter and DeAndre Hunter are good swingmen too, so does this deal really help them much?

It’ll be a lot more than that going to Washington.

Beasley/Rubio are more just filler than actual value in a complete rebuild (thus I’d rather give up Rubio or Beasley and then Layman, Juancho, and Culver). We’d probably have to give up two firsts and Philly would have to give up 2-3 firsts(and maybe 2-3 pick swaps), and Maxey and/or Thybuille in a deal like this.

Beal will be similar to a Paul George type return.

So I am seeing that the Kings are talking about a Hield - Kuzma type deal, which I think could have a lot of implications if MIN got involved. Sorry for a lot of random thoughts.

I think the most likely deal is Kuzma (3 yrs, $13mil per year), Harrell opt in ($9.7) for Hield ($22.5, $20.5, $18.6) and #22.

Thoughts:

1. I don’t think any of these are positive contracts.
2. I don’t like Kuzma or Harrell here, but MIN has asked about Kuzma, and Harrell could help MIN win regular season games.
3. Harrell can’t be on the floor in the playoffs - does any team want $10 mil payroll sunk in a guy who hurts you in playoffs?
4. SAC has little use for Kuzma or Harrell - three teamer to MIN?
5. If they had to take them, Harrison Barnes fits here. Or Bagley for Culver saves face for both GM’s
6. LAL needs a high-scoring three point shooter. Malik Beasley is better, on a better contract ($14.4, $15.5, $16.5 team option).
7. LAL has the #22 pick, and their 2027 1st becomes available on draft night.

I don’t like Kuzma or Harrell, but is this a better offer?

MIN GETS: Kuzma, Harrell, #22, 2027 1st
LAL GETS: Beasley, Juancho, Okogie

MIN in: Simmons

PHI in: Rubio, Beal

WSH in: Hill, Culver, Maxey, Bolmaro, 2 future 1st round picks (PHI), 2 future 1st round picks (MIN)

Assuming Beal asks out, maybe a framework like this? Get to keep Malik in this scenario...

Gallo is underrated

Not a coincidence that the teams he was on the last three seasons

ATL
OKC 2019/20
LAC 2018/2019

were the biggest "overachievers" in the league each season

Personally, I’m not interested in Simmons for all the reasons I listed earlier, and I wouldn’t be in favor of using two unprotected 1sts to bring him here. That said, the deal works conceptually.

Yeah protections are negotiable, we could probably throw top 3 or top 5 protections on our end if needed

I agree with this. I think he’s a positive value on what’s essentially a one year contract.

And I’d love to get Reddish if we make a deal with Atlanta. The ESPN draft article cites above suggests they want to move him before his rookie deal is up. But we’d have the same problem, how many guys are we going to be able to pay in the next few years, especially a guy that has only shown flashes like Reddish?

He is a negative value and would require an asset attached for us to take him on and pay the $5mil next year.
