Don't think so as he suited up for the Dominican team when he was like 16 or 17

I believe that's still the case

I think we could see up to 4 players from the 2021 draft on the 2024 Team USA.

Jalen Suggs is the type of PG they need. Cade is Cade. Mobley provides a modern big and Green is an upside play. Could even see Bouknight or Barnes in the mix. I think Holmgren from 2022 will be there too.

Suggs is a little overated. If anything Ant makes it over most of those.

Lots of smaller issues add up for team USA. Time dedicated to playing together (Canada has a ton of talent but their roster is always in flux and it shows when they play these more cohesive teams). I don't really like the roster construction. I also think the style doesn't suit us.

FIBA is a lot more physical, bigs are actually very useful and can play big. In the NBA bigs are so hampered by rules that favor guards, it's very different game when a big guy can actually use their size. We rely so much on shooting and avoiding contact. We need more attacking the rim, more kick out passes, etc.

Team USA could use some more bruisers. wolves Kevin Love would be GREAT for them but Love isn't what he was. Ultimately I think the style of play needs to be altered, they have to approach the game differently if they want to dominate. They should also look to getting good palyers on the team period, I don't think you have to be a NBA player per-se there are probably some really good American bigs or role players who could play at a high level on an Olympic stage, especially if they could put ample time practicing for it. Komp's hybrid idea isn't too crazy to me IMO, I am sure there are some talented, G-league/International/recent or current college Americans who could contribute in defined roles.

I don't think it really has anything to do with national pride or heart, they just aren't prepared as well and set up for success as well as some other teams.

I really enjoy FIBA.

Games are fast-paced. We don't have commercials every damn second. I enjoy the physicality. I like how they use bigs. I even like the goaltending rule though not sure how that would go over in the NBA. FIBA is a fun game, grit goes a lot further.

Ant will be there no doubt. That wasn't part of my consideration.

It's interesting looking at the top of the NBA and what we can see as the future of Team USA. Not perfect, but I'll use the list of most recent all-stars. Only eight of the 27 players involved would not be eligible for Team USA (Antetokounmpo, Embiid, Doncic, Jokic, Simmons, Vucevic, Sabonis, Gobert).

That leaves 19 current all-stars/replacements. That should be a lot of talent going into the 2024 games. However.....James will be 39, Paul will be 39, Curry will be 36, Conley will be 36, Durant will be 35, Harden will be 34, Lillard will be 34, George will be 34, Leonard will be 33, Irving will be 32, Beal will be 31, Davis will be 31. I remember in 2012, Kobe was the old man on the team. He was 33, and the only player above 30 on the team. So maybe one or two from this list will be back, but considering the names I'd be surprised with more than that unless it includes more than one of the first few listed.

The rest of the USA-eligible current all-stars? LaVine will be 29, Randle will be 29, Jaylen Brown will be 27, Booker will be 27, Mitchell will be 27, Tatum will be 26, Williamson will be 24. There will likely be a few from this list, especially the returnees having a leg up.

Then we'll look at the batch of young guys. It'll probably be a young group in 2024 with a few olders sprinkled in.

Imagine having Leandro Bolmaro on defense and then not using him

Damn, Pau and Rodriguez are so washed/bad. Looks like Chef Rubio will have to fire up his grill again in the 4th.

Bolmaro showed nothing really. He's a project and should not be counted as serious contributor in the coming season.
