Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread Part 4
Trading up would be a massive mistake unless
- It's both picks for Cade and we trade back into the late lottery. Only way both picks are added
- it's with Cleveland with 1 pick (5 or 8), an asset (WCJ), and a contract (Harris) for 3 and Love's contract
Someone here (sorry I can't remember who) posted that only 1 or 2 top 5 picks hit, I'd rather we take our 2 top 10 picks and go again next year because we are going to be a bottom 5 team again

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread Part 4
Double post, why so much noise on Fultz going? I like Markelle, I think with a rebuild we need a fresh start all together and he'd benefit from going to somewhere that can compete now he's shown he can be healthy (knee excluded). I'd give him up in a deal with Houston, with WCJ, and #5, not sure what we'd take back...

(Can't edit on the app)
Wall or Gordon, is that too much to take on to move Markelle and move up? I'd take Wall on to move up to #2
Wall + #2
Fultz + Harris + WCJ + #5

Was it slip of the tongue when our FO just said 2 players when we have 3 very good picks for this draft?

Pels opened up some serious cap space with that move. Can affordably keep or threaten to keep Lonzo now, but also have the room to make a play for Lowry. Can’t see Lowry wanting to join them, though, so I wonder what plan B is?
Grizz moving up to 10 is interesting. They’re usually smart with their picks so I’ll be curious to know who they wanted.

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread Part 4
The more I watch of Green, I'm not sure he will become this elite scorer people are raving about. His shot is good but not great, he is SKI-NY, and he's athletic but he's not anywhere close to people like LaVine or Morant or anything like that.
He honestly reminds me of Jamal Crawford, Monta Ellis, slightly bigger Lou Will type of player. He may prove me wrong but I think I like Suggs more than him.

Does anyone find it weird/curious that the Grizzlies are targeting the players in our range as well as we worked out? I mean they are in the #10 and the players they admitted to working out were in the 5-8 spots.
Trade with us? Our #8 for 10 plus assets?

Suggs is one of the few in this draft that can flip the fortunes of this franchise. Kuminga, Barnes and anyone else is a flip of the coin whether they succeed or not.

What makes you think Suggs is that sure of a pick, genuine question.Skin wrote:axl_c_cool wrote:Only Suggs if he drops right? Moving up would be wildSkin wrote:Cunningham, Green, Suggs or bust.

Would you trade both picks of assets too move up for him?

Yeah, he's someone that I don't have full confidence in reaching the heights people expect of him, but I see so much ability and potential it's worth the shot. I think he uses his athleticism in ways that make him better than LaVine and closer to Morant, with his double clutches and unlimited hang time. It will be his handles, and ability to set up his own shot which will be the swing skill for him, imo. I could definitely see a Wiggins-like path for him if he doesn't end up being good enough on that end, though he doesn't seem as passive as Wiggins is.
I've got him ranked #2 on my big board probably more out of a "I don't want to miss out" mentality, less than a "this kid is gonna be good" regard which I hold Suggs and even Mann in.

Yes, the same one who shot 36% from the field, 26% from 3, && had a negative DBPM last year in the other 700 plus minutes he played. He's literally the spitting image of what he was coming out of college, && people are still trying to use one stretch of hot shooting and dialed in defense to justify the other 95% of his time on the court.

Just means our two front offices have similar evaluation on players.RookieStar wrote:Does anyone find it weird/curious that the Grizzlies are targeting the players in our range as well as we worked out? I mean they are in the #10 and the players they admitted to working out were in the 5-8 spots.

Oh no doubt and you can say the same for many other teams but I was talking more about draft RANGE. It would be the same about us doing the same work on Green Mobley Cade even though we are on the 5th spot with the Grizz doing with Kuminga Bouk Moddy on the 10th... who knows maybe they expect one of them to drop to 10th and no need to move up at all.

If we keep picks: give me 2 of Moody/Barnes/Wagner.
I'll be intrigued with J.Johnson.

Yeah... but the sad thing for some of us is we have 3 picks...
