I hope they have big plans for #10 and #40.

I dont like the idea of seeing JV gone. I really loved that guy.

I cant wait to see S.Adams making screens for Morant, It will be fun.

Adams doesn't provide the spacing JV does, but he should somewhat fill some of the roles JV had. Hard screens, bullying smaller players in the paint, fighting for offensive rebounds, being able to bang with the bigger centers so that JJJ and Tillman don't have to. JV>>Adams for sure, but at least we replace a portion of what we lost.

This trade is interesting from the aspect. Bledsoe can mentor Ja on how to be a better defender and be a solid backup to spell Ja in solid minutes. I didn't expect Adams to come back in this deal along with the 10th pick. Adams still covers the Grizzlies in rebounds, defense, and intimidation in the paint. Unfortunately, he doesn't provide offense spaces like JV does. That's a loss. Overall, I'm liking the trade to this point.

Memphis are taking on 40m in total salary & giving up the best player in the deal. If the Lakers pick is protected, I don't like it because Memphis will be banking on luck & that is removed.

Adams has to be set up to produce & was on a decline before he left OKC, whereas Jonas is coming off his best season to date in which he led Memphis in WS in a PO birth, with 3J out all year.

Now Memphis fans will come to the same realization a lot of Raptors fans have come to.

Some are saying Top 10 protection on the LAL pick though I haven't seen a high quality source make it official yet.

With protection, that pick is basically late lotto, no opportunity for luck. NO's will have covered it's ass. Lakers are supposed to still be good, so with all that salary Memphis has eaten for NO's while giving up the better player... GS gave a top 4 protected pick for 17m, where Memphis are taking on 40m in this scenario..

The pick should be unprotected but I'd accept top 1 protected.

I'd be ok with it if it meant getting into the top 3 though.

Removes the chance of lottery luck (and I don't know what happens if the pick ends up top 10), but I think that the pick very likely conveys so shouldn't matter too much. Hard to see the Lakers falling into the top 10 of the draft without winning the lottery especially since they have zero reason to try and tank at any point. They'll push hard to at least make the play in tournament though I personally think they'll be in the 4-5 seed range in the West in order to rest their stars a bit more this season.

What do you guys think about following this up with a SNT of Adams for Oubre? I don't love Oubre but he has good length and might be able to fit in here. Something like a 3/51 declining contract with no GTD on the 3rd year. We might have to overpay the market value on him to get him to take a non GTD year. But it actually doesn't hurt our available cap the next two years and we can waive him in year 3 for free. GS gets its center upgrade, we let JJJ and Tilman man the center and bring in a Vet center for the room exception, Cody Zeller maybe?

Ja/Jones/Melton
Brooks/Bane
Oubre/Anderson/#10?
Anderson/Clarke
JJJ/Tilman/Room exception center (Zeller type)

Left off Bledsoe since it sounds like we are rerouting him.

I'd almost try to offer him as much as possible to have the last two years not be guaranteed. Opens up cap space next offseason and if he works out I believe we can waive him and resign him for a more reasonable deal. I like the overall thought though.

Where does every see Bledsoe potentially going?
-Kuzma+22+min salary from the Lakers? Feels like an overpay by the Lakers considering how bad Bledsoe was this year plus they want to surround LBJ with shooting which Bledsoe doesn't provide. It does get them off Kuzma's deal though if they are having second thoughts.
-Bledsoe+10 for Hield+9 if SAC wants off of Buddy's money?
-To Dallas in a Dwight Powell based deal along with maybe Josh Green as the incentive? Maybe buy Bledsoe out and put all his money on this year so that they can chase free agents next year which sounds like their plan given their new hires.
-Bledsoe+Anderson+10 for Wiggins+7 with us adding one of our cheap young guys or a 1st or something?

It is hard to see what deal may be around the corner for a guy who supposedly won't make it to Memphis

How Adams vs JV are compared from a defensive perspective?

I consider any reference to Oubre as a potential Grizzly as a joke.

This trade is nothing but about #10. That’s why I love it. We are getting a so desired third star (Moody) without giving up any pick or core player. That’s fantastic.

In theory Adams is supposed to be better defensively, but last year I actually think JV was better. Adams may do a little better in Memphis than in New Orleans though.

Adams used to be better defensively but he's been declining rapidly.

If I were a betting man, I'd put 20g on Memphis not making the PO's next year.

But that's just because we are likely to trade Anderson right?
