I agree with this. I think he’s a positive value on what’s essentially a one year contract.

He is a negative value and would require an asset attached for us to take him on and pay the $5mil next year.

Yes - there is no way he provides $20.5 mil in production. And he’ll produce less than that because he misses so many games. Plus you have to lose $5 mil in payroll the following season for zero production to pay off his guaranteed money.

At $25.5 mil, he is definitely overpaid for what you get from him.

The way I see it it takes an asset just to move him for expirings, if they want a player like Beasley it would take a second asset.

I disagree. Bledsoe is garbage and eating cap space, Val is better than Stephen Adams and has a shorter and cheaper contract.
Memphis must really want that 10th pick.

N.O. is shedding $21M in salary this year and $37M next year.

Realistically twenty-one million next year, Bledsoe has a $3.9MM guarantee.

That said, I agree it is a good trade for the Pelicans, given that they are targeting Kyle Lowry.

I also disagree. Love the trade for New Orleans. Valanciunas is a major upgrade for them and shedding Bledsoe's contract is added bonus. The drop from 10-17 isn't too big in my opinion, as there is no consensus among the players going around the middle of the draft.

For Memphis, I think they are cashing in their cap space too early and could have got better value down the line. I fail to see how this trade makes them better next year. Perhaps Memphis will trade that #10 pick for Cam Reddish or has some other plan beyond drafting a player in that spot.

Don't think Memphis would help us out by getting us involved in a 3 team trade. We're in the same division as them I think.

How about we trade Beasley for Bledsoe straight up then flip Bledsoe to Philly if they really like him that much?

I doubt they like him THAT much.

Probably more of a "we could use a decent combo-guard but there's not a lot out on the market".

we get Gallinari and Onyeka, 20th pick for Beasley, Okogie and Huancho. That'd be a good trade. Onyeka is good defensive young pf. But he is out like 6 months due to injury. Need some medical clearance on that.

I love that trade all day!! I'd even throw in a future 1st. And I'm cheap! :)

shrink wrote:So I am seeing that the Kings are talking about a Hield - Kuzma type deal, which I think could have a lot of implications if MIN got involved. Sorry for a lot of random thoughts.

I think the most likely deal is Kuzma (3 yrs, $13mil per year), Harrell opt in ($9.7) for Hield ($22.5, $20.5, $18.6) and #22.

Thoughts:

1. I don’t think any of these are positive contracts.
2. I don’t like Kuzma or Harrell here, but MIN has asked about Kuzma, and Harrell could help MIN win regular season games.
3. Harrell can’t be on the floor in the playoffs - does any team want $10 mil payroll sunk in a guy who hurts you in playoffs?
4. SAC has little use for Kuzma or Harrell - three teamer to MIN?
5. If they had to take them, Harrison Barnes fits here. Or Bagley for Culver saves face for both GM’s
6. LAL needs a high-scoring three point shooter. Malik Beasley is better, on a better contract ($14.4, $15.5, $16.5 team option).
7. LAL has the #22 pick, and their 2027 1st becomes available on draft night.

I don’t like Kuzma or Harrell, but is this a better offer?

MIN GETS: Kuzma, Harrell, #22, 2027 1st
LAL GETS: Beasley, Juancho, Okogie

If it’s some form of Hield for Kuzma, I’d prefer just to do Bagley for Culver. Hield going out makes Culver at least interesting to Sac.

So I’m looking at Denver’s payroll, and I think that may be a pathway for us to find a PF.

The Kronkes have always been one of the cheapest ownerships - even using picks to save money. I think with Jamaal Murray out for a year, the team will try to compete, but they will still stay under the lux, hopefully setting up to pay it later when MPJ and Aaron Gordon get their new contracts. It will be interesting to see if they get extensions.

Anyway, Aaron Gordon really didn’t do well for the Nuggets, especially in the playoffs. Since they invested real assets to get him, I don’t think he would be available for trade this summer, but if you like him, keep an eye out at the February trade deadline.

What I think is interesting is what they do with JaMychal Green and Paul Milsap - they don’t need both. Green decline his $7.5 mil player option. He didn’t play well, but maybe he’s hoping to get a multi year deal since he’s 31. Millsap (36) deal expired, but they might bring him back, Neither should require the MLE. One thing I like about Millsap is that he is credited for getting Jokic to finally defend a little, which couldn’t hurt with Towns.

I don’t think either is a starter, but they could help considering our line up.

Do your thing Gersson

One interesting side note: The Pelicans now have picks No. 35, 43, 51 and 53 on Thursday, and I don’t think they’re planning on selecting four players for the roster. I’d expect them to sell or trade at least one of the picks and take a stash pick with at least one of the others.
