Happy to hear Blake seems to want to come back. Would be great to hear the same about Brown, probably.

Nothing against Spencer wanting to get paid, but it's hard for me to imagine a GM paying him even close to his desired rate unless they're willing to roll the dice. The injury-history is a real risk, and even at his most productive, DWid's efficiency numbers have never been all that great AFAIK. That said, he could potentially fit as anywhere from a clear starter, to a platoon guy, to a 6MOTY candidate. All while being able to handle three positions. Hmm.

Marks certainly has a lot of crucial decisions to make. Like, even if you can re-sign almost everyone to a fair rate, is it still a good idea? Maybe better to go for a more balanced team than try to run things back? And is it even worth drafting anything other than stash players, given the team's 'win now' situation...?

Yeah, that’s a stain for Marks unfortunately. We will see if he can make up for it with by moving up potentially.

Seems like we could make a deal with the Knicks.

I have no faith in their draft decisions post KD era...

Ain't no prospect gonna make up for giving away Bey.

We wouldnt have taken Bey even if we kept the pick. Marks would have taken RJ Hampton. And the it was a phenomenal trade for us. Shamet was good for us on both ends of the floor and stepped up later in the regular season when injuries hit with some big games to help get wins. If We didnt have the worst coach in the league, and Nash played him more instead of running harris in to the ground playing him 50 minutes, we would have probably beat milwaukee and won a title if we got ky/harden back.

Bey isnt even good. he is the next semi joule. a decent role guy who will stick in most 9 man rotations but overall isnt really worth playing big minutesunless you have an poor team, a 3 and d guy who isnt really good defensively and is a good but not great shooter

Marks got it right. only criticism would be choosing shamet over kenard, but even then contract wise shamet makes a ton more sense.

This is a win now team. we have a legit shot at the title. we cant be wasting time with rookie role players who are not likely to ever be more then role players.

I don't really get the hand wringing over Bey either. He isn't some superstar prospect.

The blake news is huge. if we can get him back, that would really keep us chugging along. i think we can afford to lose brown, but blake would hurt more. jeff is replaceable, but would hurt continuity and he had some huge moments. he seems to want to be back. Dinwiddie is gone, gotta salvage value...

ideal offseason with those 4:

-Sign blake, without using the MLE
-Trade dinwiddie with a pair of seconds into someones cap space for a large TPE
-Sign gree, without using the MLE
-Let brown cash in, thank him and cheer him when he comes back

That gives us:

Harden | Kyrie | Harris | KD | Blake
Shamet | Green | Claxton

15-20 million TPE, MLE, #27

thats a good core to bring back with some felxibility and a large TPE in case a big contract wants to come here via trade

I can get on board with this but it seems really unlikely Black or Green won't require the MLE. Of the 2 I obviously prefer Blake but either would be fine.

Also that Roster is super thin. The Big 3 is almost guaranteed to miss tons of games. IF both Brown and Din leave that's a huge hole in the roster that I'm not sure can be filled with the assets you proposed but perhaps we can get decent players again from the buyout market.

Marks is going to either have to get real creative or Papa Joe is going to need to start spending some serious cash

The Teflon approach to our public relations has finally worn thin. I believe that there are far deeper power struggles within our organization than the surface shows. D'Antoni probably knew he has zero authority in the war room, and bounced.

The Wizards are looking for a shooting specialist through the draft or in a trade. How do we feel about something like Shamet + 27th pick for the Wizards' 15th pick + filler, if we're looking to move up in draft?

I'd do it, not sure if the Wizards would.

If we are going to trade Shamet, we need to bring in JJ Reddick

Not sure what the Lakers could offer beyond their pick. Same with Dallas.

I’d take Jax Hayes or NAW + a pick for Shamet, 27.

I for one am not disappointed by his exit. He was essentially our offensive co-ordinator but I felt like he was not maximizing our roster and our offensive "sets" were not creative at all and only relied on our overwhelming talent.

Yes I know lack of practice time hurts but I did not like how our solution for everything was a 5 out offense and go smaller and smaller. We saw from several teams in the playoffs that size matters and far too many times we went super small and played weird lineups.

Hopefully some of that changes next season.
