Free Agency: Dwight, Ellington, Ariza, Melo, Monk, Baze sign

Post#1 » by loveshaq786 » Mon Jul 26, 2021 4:44 pm

We have an active trade thread going, but not an active free agent thread. I see too many free agent postings on the trade thread so let's talk about it here...

I would love for us to sign...

Vet's min: Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, Jeff Green, Blake Griffin, JJ redick, Danny Green, Austin Rivers, and Gorgui Dieng.

Full mle: evan fournier or demar or cp3 or lowry..... All very unlikely but possible if they want to give up money for a championship

What else you guys got?

I've really talked myself into DeRozan. The idea has been that the Lakers need a new "point guard" to relieve LeBron of some of the creation responsibility and add a scoring punch. But what's actually important is filling that role; it doesn't matter what the position is. LeBron is the defacto point guard whenever he's on the court regardless, so I'd love to see them start DeRozan/KCP/LeBron/Davis/Gasol and of course move AD to the 5 in key moments.

Love the idea of derozan....

But I'm sure he's going to want at least 16 million which we could only acquire him through a trade.

If he takes the mle, he is more purple and gold than any player we currently have

I do not understand why folks are hating ddr. he gets buckets. avg 21.6 ppg along with 6.9 apg last season. he is a hooper. no, he cannot shoot the 3 but when AD gets hurt and he has every season, DDR would come in handy for scoring

It's because DeRozan is such a liability on defense. He would get played off the floor in the playoffs. I think of him in the same light as a Lou Will

Vet's min for me would be Patty Mills= great shooter, Austin Rivers= defender over aging vets like Iggi and Ariza, Dieng over aging centers.
Full MLE, Evan Fournier would be great. Only 1 of his 8 years when he averaged below 35% from 3, career 3pt % is 38% shot 46% for Boston last year.

The Knicks will throw money at Fournier , and if they don’t Boston will keep him specially if they strike out on a big trade like for Beal.

They already have RJ Barrett who shot 40% from 3 last season and at the same time badly need a reliable PG. It would make sense for them to spend that $ on a legit floor leader who will read and properly initiate the offense, then resign Bullock who shot 41% from 3...or the Lakers can just recruit Bullock then.. :D

Steph tries. Steph competes and will get you steals or get you a board. Derivable has been god awful on that end in the playoffs and has never had a steph at least I try moment or a Carmelo my pride forces me to fight and try vs Kobe moment. It’s not part of who he is

I think signing Derozan and trading for Buddy Hield and keeping Carusso and THT is all we need. The rest of the roster can be filled with vets. As for Hield. Kuzma and Trez should suffice. Maybe we can convince Drummond to stick around. Screw Schroder.

Some of my hopes, especially for that tax-payer MLE ($5.9M)

- Otto Porter
- Patty Mills
- Nerlens Noel
- Wayne Ellington
- Goran Dragic
- Kelly Olynk
- Tony Snell
- Willie Cauley-Stein

Veteran minimum:

- Victor Oladipo
- Carmelo Anthony
- Dwight Howard
- Enes Kanter
- Lou Williams
- Trevor Ariza
- Gorgui Dieng
- J.J. Redick
- E'Twaun Moore
- DeMarcus Cousins

I think getting DDR is unrealistic and it would have to be at the expense of losing all of our depth via trade. I like Kuz and Trez for Hield and then sign Whiteside, Wanamaker, Tony Snell, and Carmelo w/ vet. min. Also re-sign THT - I think someone will overpay for Caruso. Like someone above already mentioned, we don't need a "point guard" as much as people think we do. James will always be the primary ball handler on offense, and as we saw in the bubble KCP can play the "point guard" on defense.

G - James [33]/Wanamaker [15]
G - Hield [29]/THT [30]
F - KCP [26]/Snell [15]
F - AD [35]/Carmelo [23]/Dudley/Cakok
C - Whiteside [18]/Gasol [16]/Antetakoumbpo

Derozan’s always been the main scoring option.
I think as a 3rd option, he’d be solid. The midrange game is coming back.

I haven’t really watched him much since his Toronto days, but his handles used to be in question. Lakers need a guy who can break down the D off the dribble, as Lebron isn’t doing that anymore and it seems AD will never develop that skill. As long as he can consistently beat his defender and move off the ball, he’d be a great addition - essentially a big offensive upgrade from Kuzma.

Patty Mills
Kelly Olynyk would both be quite interesting players to target.

Would love to see if we could get Reggie Jackson for the full MLE. His 3 pt shooting was awesome in playoffs
