Absolutely awful move. 6th rounder for a guy who would have probably been released and he didn't renegotiate his contract.

I don't like the trade, but I thought it was going to be worse. The Packers had to get Rodgers his guy so he will quit pouting a little.

When does Cobb play? The Packers like 3 wr sets. Davante, MVS stretches the field and Lazard is a great blocker. It seems like Amari Rodgers would be a much better option in the Tyler Ervin gadget role they like to mix in.

He's going to get on the field to placate #12 and we're all going to bitch n moan about the younger better player not playing more often

While not the biggest fan of reacquiring Cobb, I think MLF/Hackett will have fun using him and think he’ll be a nice addition because of their creativity. This isn’t MM using Cobb

Numerous times here I pointed out how Cobb, a college Wildcat QB, throwing the ball only twice under MM symbolized his lack of creativity.

The problem is he's now on the wrong side of 30, and if he got the ball on an end around I would be playing the pass all the way.

Look, when you can bring in a Randall Cobb, you bring in a Randall Cobb. The only thing a bean counter has ever done is count beans and counting beans does not add to a hill of beans though I guess this depends on the amount of beans counted.

Savvy move tho, hope it meets with Rodgers' approval.

They already brought in a Randall Cobb. His name is Amari Rodgers.

I like how Rodgers tried to make this about other players (most of then at the end if their career) not being re-signed.

It's a business.

It sucks but that's the only way to stay competitive.

Still, I don't buy it. If that was the issue he would've done this long ago. He is mad they drafted Love.

Or it could be he bought into the national media narrative that the Packers failed to surround him with "proper talent". That could've been the breaking point to him since it validated his frustrations.

Ok...I will bite. Let's say this is about Jordy, Kuhn, Woodson (who I was even mad about at the time), Bulaga, Lang....etc. He makes it seem like this is different than any other team. Unfortunately this is a business and there is a cap. Most of these players wanted contracts we couldn't afford without cutting other players, at which point he would have an issue with cutting those players. Not to mention EVERYTIME you signed a deal you were paid as the highest QB in the league which ate into a high % of that cap. You want some of these guys back, then give some money back. I also laugh that he says these players "come to play with me." No, they go to whoever offers the most money. Adams proved that by stepping out and saying "I deserve to get paid as the #1 WR."

As far as the national media narrative of "not enough talent." That theory has been disproved. While we have struggled to put a good defense around him for years reaching for corners, he still has had top WRs, a great oline, and recently really good RBs and even an above-average defense that got him three interceptions in the NFC Title game that he could not finish on his own.

How come people love bashing Gutey when the players on ARod's list were Ted Thompson's castoffs, not Gutey's?
Also, Florio is both a mental midget as well as a physical midget. How in the world can anyone think Rodgers should get a 2-year $90MM guarantee when he just got $98.7MM guaranteed for the first year of his 4-year $134MM extension? That's insane.

Rodgers is a pretty smart guy. He realizes not everyone can be re-signed. There are a few of those named that were willing to take a huge cut to stay. As he said numerous times, it's not about wanting to be the GM, but simply being heard. Effective communication goes a long way. A simple explanation. As everyone here should be able to relate to, it's not about getting your way, but just knowing your experience and knowledge are valued enough that a conversation is had. You can debate the right and wrong about that idea, but it's already here. Other teams are doing it. So you adapt or die

Rodgers is upset about other veterans being let go yet he’s been taken care of contract wise his entire career. I don’t want to hear it. He is a man who drips with insincerity.

I believed he acknowledged being well compensated numerous times. You may have listened to what he said, but you didn't hear. I think a prime example Rodgers would give is regarding Jordy. If he wanted to come back one more year at the vet minimum in a reduced role to mentor and enjoy one more season in the locker room, Rodgers would say that Jordy earned that right. Hard to argue that logic when an organization claims to be a family. You can split hairs and argue the business side, but Rodgers is coming from a common sense place with regard to this

Yep, like I said. You want some of those players back....ok do what Brady has done most of his career and take less money. Also, most of the guys he listed went on to basically retire within a year or two or never ended up being the same. So your ideas are to retain players past their prime? Cool....GIVE BACK SOME MONEY OR STFU!

Another example would be Corey Linsley. How many times did he hear from the FO his last year ?? Zero.
Would it have killed the Packers to say, "Hey, youre gonna get a huge payday, and you deserve it, but we aren't in a situation to be the team that pays you. We thank you and wish you the best."

Because why would you ever slam the door shut when you don't have to?

At face value, absolutely, but money wasn't the reason Jordy or even Cobb got let go and I think we all know it. They got let go because they had to break Rodgers of his bad habits of not running, you know, the offense. So they took away his security blankets and it didn't look great two years ago, but last year it produced a historic offense.

I'm fine if people don't think that is the real reason we let those guys walk, but I bet if I had an honest 5 minutes with the front office, that would be the case. Rodgers was too far out doing his own thing, that is how they felt they could reign him in.
