Trade 5&8 up to 3 if ...... 33 gets moved for late 1st

Post#1 » by MartinsIzAfraud » Wed Jul 28, 2021 6:37 pm

How many would trade 5 &8 to get to 3 if it also meant being able to move up from 33 using our TPE to take back salary? I'm seeing a ton of people say we need talent and this could be a way to sneak back into that back 1/2 of the draft using the TPE while helping a Cap team shed $$ for FA.

Magic walk out of draft with Suggs & your pick of Dosunmu, Thor, Mann, Hyland, McBride, Christopher, Grimes

So say we trade 33 and our TPE for Lakers #22 and either Harrell, Kuzma or Pope?

That's actually really interesting....LAL might be desperate for some financial flexibility NOW.

Bonus: send Kuzma to Lakeland for humbling

I think that would be one of the best plays we could make. Get the guy we want at the top of the draft and get another stud who *should* also be ranked at the top but has slid for reasons. Those are some of my favourite names you’ve got in that list, so I would be stoked with that result.

I really think that a package with some of Ross + Harris (exp) + TPE + 33 and if we have to also use one of Bamba or WCJ, we should be able to get back into the draft anywhere from mid 1st (Knicks) onwards.

Even if we can't move up from 33, I'd be happy walking away with one of the top 3 and then wieskamp at 33

Those are my 7 targets for 33. Really hoping we keep the pick because some of those dudes are legit and other years could be late 1sts like you said.

If Kuzma gets traded here after what he initially said about playing in Orlando that would just be hilarious. I actually wouldn’t mind this trade if we can maybe land a big later in the draft. Kuz can at least score if not much else and we can lock in another young player to a longer term with the 1st round pick.

I want Kuzma here just to see what he’ll said about the comments he made about Orlando.

A few days of interviews here as if he is saying in Orlando and then trade him forward to another team, that would be totally worth it, lol.

Totally against #5 and #8 for #3.

Moving up from #33 into the first round with maybe future seconds or a salary dump might be appealing though.

This would be lifetime contract territory for Weltman in my eyes. Trade for him, stick him in Lakeland for the entirety of his contract and then just let it expire. Power move.

what's your mindset for not using 5&8 for 3? There's 5% this FO uses 33 IMO so was creatively thinking of a way to still get 2 picks, 1 being Tier 1 and then another solid late 1st.

Tier 1 and late 1st > 2 tier 2 guys especially if one of those is Barnes/Kuminga/Williams (threw up with that name)

The Top-4 Picks are never the best 4.

I think The Magic can get two really good players at #5 and #8.

#5 and a future pick (chicago or denver) and maybe even a pick swap with protections for #3.... I'd be okay with. But #5 and #8... positions where quality can be found would be a bad idea. If they are willing to trade down to grab the player theeeeeey want... then obviously the talent and/or fit they are currently looking at is not what they are looking for. We're just paying so we get the player that might be taken by Toronto. Shouldn't have to overpay severely... would be a bad move by the FO.

Though yeah... I would love to get mobely at #3.

don't have much faith in this FO drafting at 5 or 8 with the names being rumored.
