Odds are pretty good we don’t have the next anyone in this draft. I love the potential of all three of the top guys, and some others as well, but there’s no such thing as a sure thing.

The Pistons will take Cade and hope he flourishes. It’s far from guaranteed, he isn’t Doncic. But there’s also a very real chance that Mobley and Green have issues as well. You take your shot, see what happens.

I think its very possible Cade falls to 3 or 4 because everything with him is skill based and his lack of explosive athletic ability caps his ceiling lower than them . He might be chalk lock on mocks but if Detroit has a clue he aint their selection...

how are you guys STILL refusing to accept that Cade is a lock for #1 a day before the draft?

I think we know he’s most likely a lock, but he’s just blah as a number one pick compared to the excitement that Green or Mobley would give you.

Adrian Wojnarowski
@wojespn
Trade offers to move up the board -- including to No. 1 -- continue to come, so there's always the possibility that a proposal could blow the Pistons away. But if they're taking the pick for themselves at No. 1 tonight, they're taking Cade Cunningham, sources tell ESPN.

Why would you announce what you are doing ahead of the draft if you were not trying to up the ante on teams wanting him lol Maybe they are taking him maybe they are for someone else or maybe this is just a weak attempt at trying to increase pick value

Anyone in here that can give a little more insight on his game? Comp? Strengths? Weaknesses?

He doesn't look 6'8''. In this picture, he looks shorter than Livers, who is listed at 6'7''.

The afro and the long arms make him look a little taller. Cade is probably about 6'6.75 - 6'7.0 in shoes

Livers measured 6'5.75'' without shoes.

Garza measured 6'10" without shoes.

Yes, I think his measurements have been inflated by an inch or two by the hair. You can press down on the hair, but you can't press down on 3-4 inches of thick rag dreads (right word?).

But ultimately, it is not height that will make or break Cade. It is his athleticism on defense and his ability to play point in the league. If he can defend without being a negative, and increase his assist-to-turnover ratio from a 0.875 to at least a 2. Even Westbrook is at a 2.4, elite BA PG at at 3+

he's not 6-8

Image

looks like he's only got a couple of inches on Silver who's 6-4ish

6-6 is probably the most accurate, and i doubt Rose is 6-8 probably closer to 6-6 himself

this. if hes 6'6.5 hes not going number 1 in other drafts. the idea was that he was a generational prospect with luka lite traits at 6'8.
But he looks lot worse in measurements and even the body frame looks frail compared to luka he wont be posting up that effectively.
He better model his game after poor man's KD.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Even these draft pictures aren't the best comparison because everyone is wearing different shoes. Look at the sole of Kuminga's shoes compared to Cade's or some of the other draftees, Jalen Green had some huge soled shoes too.

Image

Kispert measured 6'6 barefoot and 6'7.25" and I wouldn't say he looks much bigger than cade at all

The last legit w/out shoes measurement for Cade I can find is the 2017 Nike Elite 100 camp in 2017 -
https://www.nbadraft.net/nike-elite-100-roster-measurements/

6'5" without shoes
209lbs
7'0" wingspan

Cade has reasonably probably grown 0.5-1 inch since he was 16 years old.

Cade looked a little taller than Moody, especially at the shoulder level.
But Moody is a good comparison because we have his exact measurements. This is probably the best photo, even though its a little old. so they could have possibly grown since then I guess.
Cade looks about 1 inch taller than Moody, looking at the shoulder height and top of his head

Image

Moody measured 6'4.5" at the combine, I would say Cade is 6'5.5" ish barefoot at this stage, which I guess would put him roughly 6'7" in NBA terms.
He's pretty clearly not 6'8, but 6'7 with a 7'0-7'1 wingspan is still very oversized for his position and still above average size+length if you want to play him at the 3.

The key is to look at the eyes. It's clear he is taller than Moses but shorter than Kuminga.

Let the panic ensue. Should have taken Green 1.

This is actually a mega pro tip. Eyes can normalize for head/forehead size/hair. Eyes is what influences vision anyways, seeing over players.
