Unfortunately Covid is very relevant to the upcoming basketball season, especially these latest findings with the variations.

Welcome Rubio for Prince. Rubio is guaranteed 17.8 million, sending out Prince and his 13 million salary. This move likely pushes us towards not being able to use a full MLE, depending of course on what Allen gets. Rubio's contract will be good to have available as a trade chip, and of course we can use a backup PG. Like thanks for finally noticing this Koby

It would be nice if Rubio could do basic things like shoot and score, but hey ... he's an upgrade in that area over Delly.
Delly's TS% was 31.2% last year. Didn't know that was possible ...

Aiyä!
Jo sóc El Hespíritu i El Hespíritu sóc jo.
Nòmada Ricky stan from Catalunya; following him from team to team.
He's playing great at the Olympics so far. Doncic and him are being widely considered strong candidates for the MVP.

I'm not sure if I do right to bandwagon since now or should I wait in order to prevent some Came-And-Went á la OKH (RRubio was officially Oklahoma player during a few days... not enough to consider it an ex-team).
But I'm betting he stays here... one season at least.
Nice to meet you all.

Welcome to the board, the Cavs are going to be a very weird team next season by modern NBA standards, but we desperately need a backup PG who can show our young guards how to play.

Re: 2021 off season thread
I think he explains things better at court than from the bench.
Just saying...
I open my campaign 'Rubio for starting PG'.
And I'm curious about Allen's Free Agency.
I think he could become a dominant Center had he the right teammates... RR would benefit enormously his game.
But of course if you Draft Mobley and Love stays maybe the franchise needs to clear the spot up to develope Evan.
If Jarret leaves I would sorry: I think he's a very good player.
My favorite from your team before you took Ricky.

I mean they have the draft picks they need to use them in this much deeper draft for a floor spacer

Re: 2021 off season thread
So in the deepest draft in years for PG's with good 2 way size Altman failed to get a 2nd round pick smh
Instead he trades one of the floor spacers they did have for a good veteran back up pg but one that cant shoot or defend...just pathetic.
Should have went after several of the first round talent prospects that fell to the 2nd.
For a team needing more spacing and doing nothing at all in the draft to address it I am not impressed.
Great we got what could be the best player in the draft in Mobley but c'mon man I watched the entire fkn draft and our GM is a no show.
There are a few prospects that went UDFA that might be worth looking at I guess so maybe he can bring in some like he did with Dean Wade but beyond that all thats left is the reject market that are released to bring in the newly drafted .
I would be hoping for Jaq Mclaughlin or Mac Mclung as UDFA as 3rd pg options maybe Matt Mitchell or Sam Hauser on the wing
Hurt Ayayi Wright Duke Onu etc are also potential role players

Re: 2021 off season thread
Just looking at salary cap things and tbh what were we doing with Rubio? He’s so expensive and adding him basically takes us to not being able to use a full MLE. If Allen signs at 20 million we have 11 million under the tax and would need to still do a contract for Hartenstein. Maybe they’re just going to let him walk. I dunno what his exact market value would be but if it’s 5 million that leaves little money for another backup guard. Maybe we can cut Dotson or one of the surplus PFs and finagle a bit more room but it’s going to be kinda tight.

Re: 2021 off season thread
So what do we think the starting lineup will be? (Assuming Allen stats a Cav)
Sexton/Garland/Okoro/Mobley/Allen ?
Rubio/Windler/Osman/Nance/Love off the bench?

Replacing a guy who’s not in the rotation with a guy who will be in the rotation. Our most likely target with the MLE was a backup PG anyway.

Re: 2021 off season thread
I’m good with last night and glad that Altman didn’t rush into a Sexton trade. Always believed it was better to wait until after teams are disappointed in FA and when 2022 draft is a year away; or keep him.
I’m also glad they selected Mobley. He’s young, raw, and mostly arms and legs, but seems to have a feel for the game.
I’m glad LNJ is still on the team. I think he’s a key to properly developing Mobley.
I know some people are disappointed the Cavs didn’t buy back into the draft. But honestly, I’m not sure more rookies/youth is what this team needs.
Allen, Sexton, Garland, Windler, Okoro, Mobley is a lot…
Adding Rubio was a solid move. Don’t much care about the Wizards 2022 2nd rounder and don’t care about Gilbert’s money. Vet PG who can backup and defend both positions. A player like that was needed in the backcourt for the same reason LNJ is needed in the front court. It’s stabilizing.
So where does the team go from here? I don’t like having Love/Windler in any plan, so this team desperately needs floor spacing on the wing/paint.
Do the Cavs try to add someone like McDermott or Otto Porter Jr. who can play across the front and knock down 3s? Do they go after an Olynyk to stretch the post for the second unit?
