Yah, I wanted him at 30. I love it even more at 40.

The only downside to getting him at 40 rather than 30 is if he plays well we likely have him locked up 3 years at most versus 4 as a 1st rd pick.

Missed the draft, and at first I had to laugh despairingly at trading the 30 pick for what I thought was only to save money. Sounds like we did good by moving down and still getting the guy we wanted.

That's refreshing, and unexpected. He's not another center is he?

Reading Ben Dowsett, he said 2 years.

Love the pick. That being said his health concerns me with so many team passing on him. I can’t imagine teams passed on him because of what they saw from him on the court, because I thought he was excellent.

That isn't good if true. It is actually really bad for us if he plays well.

First time seeing him dude looks like DSJ

Butler's in recent memory have been great wings so I'm hoping for the same (lol I had to), but is he a PG?

Solid pick at #40. Only reason he dropped this far was medical concerns, which were cleared.

I think he is a RFA though after 2 years, not terrible but not great.

GobertReport wrote:Tony Jones said Jared Butler is the guy the Jazz really wanted, so I’m happy now, might be a huge pickup!
Also shoutout to Sacramento for taking Neemias Queta!

I'm not buying that as they wouldn’t have traded #30 if the guy they really wanted was there at the risk of him not being there 10 selections later. I still like the trade and pick, though.

BTW for whatever it's worth, we are getting more of what we have - shooting, and not a lot of athleticism, length and defense on the perimeter.

I still like the pick because I think he is good for what he is and where we are getting him, but we continue to have severe lack of athleticism and defense on the perimeter.

He is restricted but we will only have early bird rights. For a team in the luxury tax having 4yrs at a cheap price versus 2 is a huge deal. Of course for any of this to matter he has to actually play well.

Exactly and if he turns out then you trade Conley in 2 years.

Yeah but we get a guy that can potentially join the rotation or at the very least fill in for load management nights

For a point guard he does have a bit of size. When I heard about the trade I was a bit upset, but with that pick I actually think they nailed it.

I'd love to see us sign Vrenz, Ayayi, or Nix now. I think they are all top 45 talents who went undrafted.

That's very true. At this point of the draft it's much more important to find players that can actually play and it's very possible he will be able to do it.

Yeah, I love the pick. I think Zanik did well in his first draft. A lot of people here seemed to be upset when the trade happened. I didn't get why... I thought the value was solid. And then the guy they seem to have loved fell to 40 anyways(seems like Butler was the guy Tony Jones talked about before the draft when he said there is a player they love so much they might not be able to trade out of). Good stuff from Zanik.

Well it looks like we traded a future 1st rd pick to the thunder to dump him. Damn that sucks. Lindsey the dumbass continues to come back to bite us. There better be some serious protections on the pick and then turn into a couple seconds.
